I thought of that but I’ve emailed both super springs and headstrong. Ss requested the pic to send to the engineer

the sumo springs or the progressive aal ubolts? I’m sure the ubolts sit on the sumos like the picture. I’m not sure about the aal ubolts but would assume it would be like normal, it was never mentioned and don’t you need additional hardware to do a flip kit? That wouldn’t make sense but that’s not saying much nowadays

I’ll see if I can find one of the many past posts where every one I recall installing the sumo springs also used the flip kit which makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is they wouldn’t mention that on their website. o_O

I ordered the tweeters on Amazon. Just search kicker Subaru tweeters for Tacoma. They’re plug and play.

The front and rear door speakers came from Crutchfield. The front are Kicker CSC 6x9’s and the rear are 6.5”. If you order from Crutchfield they include (for free) the wiring adapters and speaker baffles to make them plug and play.

Did you see my follow up post after the one you quoted? I put a picture of the gap between ubolt and sumo bracket. Did your ubolts sit completely flat on the sumo bracket? Close up pics appreciated

Just looked at their website and the link they provide with installation instructions states you should be able to simply loosen the u-bolts, remove the factory bump stops and replace with the sumo springs and re-tighten. Do you think it’s possible they sent you the wrong parts? Wouldn’t think you would need to modify it. Hopefully they can provide some guidance and/or resolution.

I actually think the problem is not the sumo springs and more the ubolt that was sent with the aal from headstrong. I sus they are just slightly narrower than stock.

The thought crossed my mind too. You would think the only dimensional deviation from factory specs would be the length. Not sure how much wheelin you do but now would be the perfect time to do the u-bolt flip kit. :D
Edit: Nevermind. Looks like the flip kit from Wheelers Off-road can only be used with their Super Bumpstops.

That’s what I would of thought, only change should be the length but if the bends were made slightly short/narrow and because of the inner radius (which would also shorten the width of what can fit between) it would completely make sense.

super spring has responded saying the engineer said it would be ok to notch the edges to fit but honestly that’s a last resort for me. I’m still waiting to hear back from headstrong and this weekend I’ll probably just install the sumos just so I can pull the factory ubolt and compare to the aal ubolt (take pics and measurements). Then request new ubolts. The only way I’d even consider notching is if they refuse to replace and if I can get someone to drill press notches or some other tooling so it’s not hacked.

I don’t wheel so a flip kit isn’t something I’d do or would find necessary for me

edit: I wonder how much longer they are or if I have enough threads to reuse stock

A few subtle things on my new Taco. Took down the chrome mirror covers and fog lights, added black lettering. Might vinyl grille and surround a little darker and black out badges. Love the limited hickory interior but not a huge fan of the heavy chrome. This is my commuter.

I think it looks much better with the painted mirror covers. I don’t know what they were thinking with the chrome.

IMO the chrome mirror covers look hideous. The painted covers are a huge inprovement.
