Finally got my shell installed. It's a SnugTop cab-hi model with the fold down front slider. Added power ports, 500 Watt AC inverter and bed LED lights. The side steps were also a recent addition too.
In a previous post I added bed stiffeners.
Took three months between ordering and installation.

I once had an eagle-driver friend comment that the regs only required a 4-hour shift, so as long as troops were in their racks by 1229, you could rouse them at 0430 and start your day. He was the CO; I was just his visiting guest Judge for the day. And it was his comment, not his regular practice.

Put it back into daily mode today and installed the summer/daily wheels & tires:

And put together the @SDHQ OFFROAD chase rack. Still a work in progress -need to powder coat and mount the jerry can carrier. Amazing quality though, very happy with the chase rack and I'm excited to install it.

For the inside though? It’s pretty rough plain fiberglass so if you still recommend sanding I’d definitely be more careful.

I’ve actually thought about coating the inside of mine too but not interested if sanding

I get it. I don't plan on ever needing the capacity of the ARB, but better to have it and not need it. Or possibly hurt someone. At $270 the ARB is a good portion of a front bumper that ties into the frame with recovery points (maybe in the future). But for $160 it was a no-brainer, better than buying a new head unit. There aren't many choices for the Tacoma, but the route you took is better than using the OEM hook or some other choices.

I've got some training in recovery. The basics are the same but a lot has changed since then (synthetic shackles what?). A lot of the training was safety and that part stuck with me. Reading some of the posts on the OR hook makes me SMH.

I enjoy watching recoveries on YouTube and even Rescue 401 (my first time driving that in Toronto I was like WTF lane should I be in?).

I used to live near a little town called Linden around there. Worked at Lone Star Steel cutting train cars apart for scrap. But that was in 1981.
Edit, I think the yard I worked at was actually T&N.
