I've read the same thing on here plenty of times. And, looking at where it attaches, sure, it doesn't SEEM like the best point. But let's all be real here, it's the exact same place that Toyota puts their OE recovery points. The basic loops are welded to that thing, and if you have a TRDOR or Pro (correct me if I'm wrong, I think those are the only two that have the larger hook) that's exactly what the big fancy schmancy hook bolts up to as well. I know, I have one.

Now, being in industrial design, I do think those demon brackets could be designed a little better. The rear side could be raised higher and possibly wrapped over the top, to provide a better purchase on the cross bar. They could have used a solid eye, instead of stacking plate (presuming this is because of their material cutting capabilities). But overall I think they're an ok product. I don't personally have them, but I have two buddies that do, and I'd give them a green light.

 

The arb recovery does look to use the same holes as the stock tow hooks, but also mounts to the frame as well. Not just that shitty sub frame. I mean it’s your (or whoever’s) truck and decision, but I’d never use one for anything but towing on flat pavement. Nor would I get pulled out by someone using that point on their truck.

I completely agree about the ARB recovery hook. I totally meant to mention that in my other reply by the way. It's an awesome product, and very well engineered. It's also pretty pricey considering the materials/processes that go in to making it. I suppose what I should have added, was that it's also interesting to see people make comments comparing the demon hooks to other products like the BPF or SOS shackle mounts, and shitting on the demon product. Now, I will openly say, I have a personal share of animosity towards AMI styling (mfg of demon products) and for reasons that I prefer not to share, do not like the company. However, objectively, it's not a bad product. I think they should have utilized the additional bolt holes available, among the other things mentioned in my first response. Are there ways I think the other guys could have improved their products as well? Yeah, sure. But they're still a good, solid product. What really comes into play with them all, is whether or not the people involved in the recovery understand what the fork they're doing. A bad recovery is going to ruin something either way.

I have both a Yellow and a Black Lab. Between them, it's impossible to keep the hair out of the vehicles - especially my wife's since we normally use her Subaru Outback to take the dogs to the vet, etc. It always seemed almost impossible to vacuum out the hairs completely. I saw a product that Taco Vinyl started selling - designed by one of their friends. It's a wand attachment for a vacuum. On a whim I bought one to give it a try. Lynn used it first and swears by it. I also used it the last time I vacuumed the truck and it was great at snagging those hairs out of the carpet. It's not cheap...of course...but it does work really well.

Many companies in Japan (like Toyota) use Kaizen. Continuous improvement. Some companies in the US have adopted this method. The company I work for adopted it 25+ years ago.

 

Ford adopted TQM in the early 1980s and first applied it to the construction of the Taurus. I don't know if they still use it. It was quite the rage in the US in the mid 1990s. I had a boss who insisted we used it, except when he decided to do something "Because I'm a Doctor..." At which point everyone stopped using it.

My son is a Six Sigma Black Belt and from his description, it's very similar to both Kaizen and TQM.

 

They definitely look way better than their pics of the tail lights. Also, when you watch their video, the turn signal lights look red, but they are actually yellow.
