Just curious, is the wall you are talking about the fire wall between the garage and the rest of the house? If so are there any building codes for extra thickness along with the other fire wall codes in your area? worth a check and make sure that wall is up to code.

It may not be the soap, it may be the water you rinse with. A lot of water will leave spots because it isn't treated not to. next time you go by a manual car wash you will probably see a "spot free" option in the wash bays. That's usually fed through a water softener to reduce / eliminate the spotting. Drying it will help reduce the spotting, if you don't wash it in direct sun light.

Ceramic coating, rain x on the windows and a good wax help but you still need to wipe it down.

Of course, I don't know about the wall in the house of the person who posted (who also did a great job backing up, by the way).

In the case of my friend, the wall in question backed up to the back wall of a garage with nothing behind it (the garage wall on the other side opened up to the backyard). He's a builder so very familiar with code. No fire wall was needed. If it was me, I would have blown out the back wall and took a few feet of the backyard but that was a bigger project than it was worth at the time. All good ...

Okay, i'm sold. What would it take to have you build one for my truck? Serious, what's your price? This is cool as hell and I'm super impressed with your detail.

I’d second this. Taking the bed off takes maybe an hour for a newbie. You need a couple of people though to lift it off

Do you have more photos from your Diamondback SE with the tent on top? Saw your post here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diamondback-se.713998/#post-25471999

I am looking at a Diamondback, and just want to make sure me, wife, tent will be good to go. Tent is ~170. Me+wife+ 6lb dog = ~300 ± a few lbs.

Am using Frontrunner Load Bars already. I have three of them, and some bed stiffeners as well.

while doing that watch your rear turn signal connection as it could get under tension

Yep, this. The minerals in the water are what leaves the spots. If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere with fairly soft water, it’s not that big of a deal; if you live somewhere with really hard water, it is almost impossible not to get spots if using untreated (softened) tap water. Either way, the solution is to get the water off the surface before it dries there. So keep the entire truck wet the whole time you’re washing, then dry it off. I like the leaf blower, followed by getting what’s left with a good microfiber. You want a fairly large one (or multiple smaller ones). Anything from cheap Amazon ones to nice Rag Company (for example) will do the trick.

Treating your windows with Rain-X and keeping a good wax/sealant on the paint will make the water bead up and easier to dry. I’ve become a fan of the Turtlewax spray hybrid ceramic, as it seems to do a good job and can be used on the glass, paint, and plastics, so you can cover the whole truck with one product after you wash it. It’s also far easier to apply and wipe off than traditional waxes.

Yep that’s exactly what I was going for. The lead time for these were awesome too, I ordered them like 8 days ago. That’s why I went with prinsu, every other place was like 8-10 week lead time

I always wash my Taco after dinner when it is a bit cooler and the truck is not in direct sunlight. This does make a difference to reduce spotting.
