I'm not sure if calvary blue was a single stage paint or not, but I don't think so. I've heard super white might have been, but I'm not positive.

Anyways, single stage paints mix the paint and clear together as opposed to 2 stage paints that are colored paint and then clear coat applied on top.
A couple of pros to single stage paints is that they can be buffed more often to remove imperfections providing enough material is still available and are usually cheaper. Two stage factory paint jobs can be buffed once, maybe twice if you're lucky and cost a little more in time, labor and materials.

All new vehicles now come with water based paint jobs instead of the old solvent types. They're eco friendly, but applied pretty thin from the factory and most of these are pretty soft paints including the clear (scratch and swirl pretty easily.) New paint jobs need about a month to cure and harden before a sealant or wax can be applied.

What does that mean in terms of durability and care?
Wash your vehicle regularly to rid surface contamination. Bird bombs and bug guts will etch the clear if left for long periods. A gallon of car wash soap or wash and wax soap from Walmart is cheap and works just fine. You can use an iron decontamination spray or clay bar, but the latter will add swirls that will need to be buffed with a machine polisher for removal. Finally, top it with a sealant and wax or perhaps a ceramic coat if you choose at least once a year. Twice a year if not using ceramics. It's usually best to leave minor imperfections vs buffing/polishing. The more clear material you leave on the vehicle the less likely the clear will fail (begin to oxide, flake, and peel).

 

Krylon fusion paint comes to mind, but I've never used it. Maybe a satin black?

That’s the ticket! Twenty-six payments instead of 24. Paying 1/2 on 15th and 30th gets you nothing. It’s the extra 2 payments. Don’t be fooled by the 1/2 payment twice a month gimmick. (Speaking from experience.)

 

Wanted to quote what you previously quoted but couldn’t find it. Been using chemical guys jet seal on my tonneau fender flares and grill and holds the black color great.

 

Well, you sure can back in better than I can. If that was my garage, I guarantee I would have put more than a few dents in that wall, for sure.

Probably a really dumb idea but I had a friend with a similar tight garage. He removed the drywall to see what was back there. The crew that did the framing came out an extra four inches, for some reason. So he cut off the drywall, framed it out and gained about 6 or 7 inches. We couldn't believe it. He was too cheap to do the whole wall but did a sort of cut in just for parking and it looked just fine. Throwing that our there ... might be worth poking into that drywall to see if you can gain any extra space ... The way I drive, I know I would!

Looking for new tires since the ones that came with my 2017 TRD OR did not perform so well and are nearly "end of life" anyway . Has anyone installed these Bridgestones on their Taco?

What did it come with? Mine came with Duratracs and they aren’t terrible. If you’re looking for performance in mud, go MT instead of AT. Geolanders?

 

OEM tires for the Tacoma TRD OR in Canada for 2017 came with Goodyear Wrangler. they have less than 60000klms on them and are nearly done.
Although MT type would be nice I don't go 4wheeling enough to justify the more aggressive tread pattern.

 

Yeah mine are Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. There are multiple Goodyear Wrangler models. The Duratracs are more aggressive than some others.

Geolander M/T G003 will probably be my next tires. People here seem to dig them. KO2s are decent as well.

Edit: If by performance you mean long lasting, don’t get Mud Terrains.

 

Oh we are. Most of my fam live "up in the hills." But that flood plain isn't too far away from those hills. It's just every spring, we get a lot of rain, and the rivers around here swell up fairly quick. And those in the low lying areas get flooded out.

Believe me when I say I could write a book about the flooding in the last 3-4 years around here, and the controversies that it has created with the farmers in Mississippi. In particular in the lower Mississippi Delta. But this isn't the place for that discussion lol.

 

Where were you able to get this from? I have a bakflip on the way and trying to do digging on what options I have for a bedrack

@playdixie, as an option, I used this on mine: ESI ROK BLOCK Tailgate Gap Cover 4.25" width. I used to lose pens, pocketknives, etc., down the gap when I was working off the tailgate.
