Everyone that had a 2nd gen knows that answer. LOCATION. The 4.0 had a regular spin on oil filter on top of the engine.

I'm familiar I changed mine last week. Just got the 2016 yesterday so I haven't investigated the oil change procedure. It's under the truck and upside down isn't it??

Be very very careful who you let tighten that plastic harness...... I had to cut mine out with a dremel cause I was lazy and took my truck to Toyota for an oil change and they severely overtightened it. Never again.9A53A38A-5F9F-4880-8E34-22B57C8C2A7C.jpg

    That’s a bummer!
Did you replace with another plastic housing or switch to the aluminum?

I went in there with all the scraps in a ziploc and said "look what you made me do". They gave me my money back.

I went straight to aluminum. I used to like this new filter style but now I'm scarred.

It's an older FJ nob.. the threads are the same as ours so it works.. I got mine off either Amazon or ebay I cant remember. And my black boot cap also came from etsy.

Ah ok. So the only part that is funky is the boot cap on the 3rd gens?

Yeah, since this nob doesn't have the plastic adapter on the bottom that clips into the top of the boot, you just have to cap it off separately and let the boot hang below the nob.

Certainly not a spin-on but it was on 2004 and 2013 Lexus RX’s I’ve owned and they’ve been uneventful. I do my own changes. Maybe that’s why, don’t let the gorillas near it?

    Hey, if you can -
Once those pods are wired in, can you give a quick report of how they play with the MTM cameras at night?
For example, people who brighten up their license plates tend to get their backup cams washed out.
That's kind of a big deal if it happens to the mirror cams, to be honest.

    Thanks!

I say go for it  My Tekonsha worked good for my needs, but I didn't like having to make holes into the dash even though they are hidden (too late for that), and I didn't like the placement of it. I would always bump my leg on it getting in or out of the truck. I've read a lot of good reviews about Redarc, so I'm sure i'll like it
