Don't be jealous... yours are all loaded up and ready to go. Mine are sitting in their racks in the garage since I still haven't figure out what kind of J rack or saddle I want. The offset of the JetStream bars (front to back) makes most clamping attachments sit ~10 degrees off of flat.

Are you putting a topper on the bed? If not, the Yakima bed bars are hard to beat.

Yeah, I already have an ARE cap with Yakima tracks, Track Towers, and JetStream bars. Most Yakima towers allow adjustment of the bar pitch. Track towers do not so I'm stuck with the 10 degree offset.

Currently looking at Thule Hull-a-Port XTRs or Aeros as a solution. Definitely don't mind mixing brands if it works.

Unless you custom machine ‘em. Which sounds rad. Or custom fit some sort of shim? I suppose you could also just get those padded bar wraps and cinch the kayaks down in those—I’ve done that with my OEM rack and a 2p rototilled kayak on longer trips…

But my approach is to envy the artful setups while maintain a “what’s the bare
minimum in cost, time, and ease of setup?” habit. (Cheap, ugly, easy. Pick three.)

What’s everyone using for a locking hitch pin? My master lock one will not fit. It’s too short…

Purchase a Carista on Amazon. So I activated the window lowering with my remote and got rid of the driver seat belt chime.

Funny I have been debating on pealing the stickers off the sun visors. Did it leave any residue?

It did. I then took 50/50 goo gone and water. Used a micro fiber towel and it came off no problem. There is one by the mirror on the driver side that you can try first

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to those who keep this thread alive. Finally purchased a Tacoma after only driving 3 Corollas the last 22 years. Safe to say it's an upgrade for sure! I got an SR5 in underground and thanks to this thread I have a TON of things listed to do to it. There are so many features in just the standard SR5, I had no idea. That's what you get when you upgrade from a 2014 Corolla.

After my limited research I was curious about a few things I've seen in here if you all don't mind sharing to a first time (and proud) truck owner.

    1. Lift kits vs Leveling kit...do I need a leveling kit to put 33 inch tires on the 17 inch wheels or can I get those on with no issues?
    2. Wheels and Tires...are there companies to stay away from? Can 2k get me a decent set up for all terrain daily driving?
    3. Rough Country...I ordered floor mats for the taco and saw a bunch of other accessories on there (RC brand wheels, tires, bed cover) for cheaper than most brands...are they cheaper for a reason or are they decent quality? What would you not skimp money on?
    4. Tint...what is a normal and safe tint percentage and what "should" a good job cost me?

Thanks all and so pumped to join this club. Appreciate your help with spending money 20240724_170503.jpg 20240724_170538.jpg

    @Anchorandgrain

    congrats
    1. You won’t need a lift for 33’s. Plenty on YT about 35’s clearing.
    2. Wheels and tires are all over the board. You can spend days looking and researching those. Enjoy the ride
    3. Rough country is a good brand and makes quality stuff
    4. I just matched the color and shade of the rear windows. Good ceramic tint done by a good installer $200. You can get it done cheaper.
