I've been thinking of selling my AO tube bumper to get the newer hybrid plate version. Is the fitment really that bad? I know it sits a lot closer to the grille, but that is half the reason I want it.

I'm still playing around with placement. It is a bit difficult having the long bed, all Ivan Stewart schemes are on short beds so I might try it with the stripes starting on the bed.

Should I try it on the camper as well? Or leave it white?

I'm leaning toward "full" coverage myself as well. I can get a pretty good discount with a vinyl shop around here, might just have to see how much they'll charge to whip up some vinyl.

Once I finally get my fiberglass fenders I'm planning on repainting the whole truck.

Okay, one last one for tonight. Swapped on some Konigs (reduced to 15" ha ha), messy, but it serves its purpose.

I'd do the camper as well. I've always seen campers that don't match the rest of the truck as super tacky, but that's just my taste. I would actually prefer it white, though. The red's too flashy for me.
Konigs look good, for sure! You've seen Buzzard'sgottaeat's truck, right? He's got those on his regular cab short bed already.

Ya the sides tuck up next to the grille really tight. I just bought a brand new grille, so I was kinda sad I had to cut so much off the bottom of it, but it's worth it. I have an over heard hoist in my shop so taking it off and on isn't a very big deal. If you had to have a friend hold it while you checked for fitment it would be terrible. New grille is only about $50 anyways if you ever wanna go back.

Any pictures of the cut grille before you mounted it up?

Can you take some pics of the clearance issues you had? Its possible, there are discrepancies between a few years of these models. That and as with all plate bumpers, they do fit very tight to keep things covered, but I am curious about where its hitting.

Also, did you order it with a reinforcement kit?

If you enlarge that picture you can see it's hitting the center center of the grille causing it to be pushed up. The left headlight bucket really shows it well. You can see it doesn't line up because it is being pushed up. This cause's none of the grille clips to line up at all. But I never use those, they suck. Use a screw in the grille and a square plastic nut in the core support. I'll have the bumper off tomorrow and will take some pictures of the grille where i had to cut it. And yes I got the frame reinforcement kit.

Hmm, I know their website said minor trimming, but that seems to be way more than I thought. But, then again my grille is getting chopped soon anyway so...

I'm worried about fitment once I get fiberglass fenders though. Might look into "boxing" my current bumper instead.

That looks freakin' awesome! If I ever take the plastic bedliner out I'll definitely do something like that. Is it narrow enough that you can just pull it out if you don't want it? Is it bolted into anything?

I built it so it was held down by the camper shell and two bolts on either side by the tailgate. These are not necessary, just extra insurance, plus if I take the camper off it remains secure. To take it out all I have to do is unbolt one side rail, slip it out from under the shell, and it comes right out.

I will probably redo it when I build my drawers/sleeping platform, but for using existing material I had around the house I am very pleased with it.

I could also hinge the two side rails so they swing inside and pull it out without having to unbolt anything.

I really need to fix my back window, have yet to find even a replacement lower frame though . Snugtop always sends me to dealers and every dealer has just blown me off so far. Starting to think I'm going to have to custom build a new frame or complete rear window...

Checked my shifter to figure out what was causing the slop, discovered the shifter seat was pretty much gone. So of course I took advantage of this and ordered a LCE short shifter kit (using stock two-piece shifter lever to reduce noise).

Just finished installing the short shifter. Holy crap the difference!!!!!!!

Before I had trouble going into first, a lot of trouble going into reverse, and noticeable slop in the gears. Very easy to enter first and reverse now, zero play in the shifter. Install required cutting clearance into the cab floor to reach the bolts, but otherwise was extremely simple.

Don't even get me started on the shift. I freaking love it, it drives like a whole new truck!!
