I can recommend Roanoke VA, Chattanooga & Nashville TN, Hot Springs & Bentonville AR, and Vicksburg MS (if youre into history) as pretty neat places with lots to do.

Actually, we'll be staying in Nashville and Hot Springs. (a lot of my family is actually from Hot Springs, Arkadelphia area)

Mississippi - we're just going far enough in for my wife to say she's been there

We'll be heading out from Dulles Int Airport up through DC to Independence hall, over to Atlantic City, down to Cape May and back to Manassas through Annapolis for a 1.5 day trip while we are back there.

Roanoke is way further South than we'll be on this trip.

NOVA is like a different state than everything south of Roanoke/Lynchburg. Whole different culture really.

Good choice on Mississippi. Theres nothing really there except the little river towns like Vicksburg.

I was heading to fuel up before 4 days of wheelin in the Rockies.. got the dreaded p0330, quick search here and jumpered the harness.. then I fired the truck back up and heard some loud chirping out the front, checked the belts and tensioner but were all new and tight. Looks like my crankshaft pulley has some wobble to it... tomorrow I’ll take a look at that, then I guess fab a tool up to hold it to dbl check the torque if it appears to be fine.

One suggestion that’s not too far into Mississippi if you’re coming from the Memphis, TN area. Clarksdale, MS is an interesting little town. It has the Devils Crossroads where legend has it that musician Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil for the ability to play the blues. It’s ground zero for the Delta Blues if you’re a music fan. There’s a lot of Historic Blues markers through town. Actor Morgan Freeman owns the Ground Zero Blues Club in downtown, it’s a cool spot and has decent food from what I remember. Also there’s the Shack Up Inn. They brought a bunch of old shacks from around the state and fixed them up nice and it serves as a hotel. Cool idea and a nice old bar next door. You blink and you’ll miss Clarksdale but it’s a cool little spot. Something to consider if you’re in the area and may never be again. I used to travel there for work is the only reason I know about it.

    Update on our trip planning.

Ok... so, change in plans. Because what would an epic trip be without a bit of flying by the seat of your pants. Was thinking, this opportunity doesn't present it's self often.

Here is the original States we would have hit on our trip.

Green being actual route, red being a side trip 17 States in 8 days is a pretty good number. BUT... Jen has already been to TX, OK, NM, AZ... so fuck that, that's boring. We gotta get her in to States she hasn't been yet.

    So here's the new map.

24 States in 9 days... Green is actual route, red is side trips.

That's more fitting of the epic-ness we are capable of. Yes, I do have a habit of overloading my hummingbird ass while planning trips. It's my reputation. I've earned it. I embrace it. Better to have too much to do, than not enough... those are words to live by.
