    Alcans installed.

Haven't driven it yet, but I'm liking what I see already.

I have 410 pounds of concrete in the bed in that picture. It's still sitting at a 2 inch rake, and I have 5.5 inches of shock shaft showing.

I just started prepping mine this weekend for paint in a couple weeks and realized that those the badges were impossible to find :frusty:. I'd be interested in another set. Still have the "Toyota Tacoma" plastic ones on the side still in tact that I can measure, the others got destroyed on removal as they were made of a softer rubber.

Did you get them before the new owners? What were the specs for them?

I'm not sure Alcan ever sold to new owners, does anyone know for sure? That was floating around last year quite a bit but I never heard anything about it other than heresay on the forum. Although it did motivate me to buy mine last year, I've been really happy with them since.

They sold. Buying experience and product received were just as good if not better when I ordered my 2nd gen pack this past winter, vs my 1st gen pack several years ago.

Fortunately, for me (not the guy I bought them from) these are about 1 year old off a truck that flopped on it's side. Dude is parting out the truck. I picked these up for $400. Specs are plus 4 inches with 700 additional pounds.

Alcan did sell. The new owner is named Lew Weldon. He purchased Alcan from Bill Ford in September of 2020. I talked with Lew a few times via email. He is knowledgeable, and very responsive. I think Alcan is in good hands going forward. I just couldn't justify the $1500 it was going to cost me after hardware and shipping from Colorado.

I have an order in with them for a set and Lew has been a pleasure to work with over the phone.
Super friendly and communicative guy. He's also happy to answer any of my dumb questions.

For those on the fence of ordering a set, he told me that they will be having a price increase starting sometime around the new year.

Base price for a set of 1st gen leafs currently are like $960 or so iirc. Every 100lbs of additional capacity you spec over the stock weight adds $10 I think.
Shipping varies depending on where you are obviously, but expect at least $100 unless you're local.

And how long ago was that?

Both of mine were in the $850 range. Given steel prices I'm surprised that's all they're increasing prices by.

There’s always 3rd gen badges, but I’m guessing you’ve already considered that.

Ya, steel prices have gone stupid.

Lew quoted me similar to @betterbuckleup which put the leafs at just over 1000, plus I think it was 150 for hardware, and shipping to CA was 300 or so... +tax and you're looking at 1500 for a set.

Hell, the tent rack I just re-built... the over all weight was 22 pounds lighter than the old one. But the cost of material was double what I paid for the material when I built the old one.

I was told it would be more like 150 or so max
Did you hear that from them?

Damn. Well I'll have to follow up with them and see if that's true or not.
$300 for shipping is pretty egregious...

I can't find the email... But I'm pretty certain that's what it was going to be.

And it was going to be an 8-10 week build time. Suffice it to say, I'm glad I found this set in Redding. It was an 8 hour (round trip) drive. But even after gas, for what I paid, I'm WAY cheaper than a new set was going to cost. And this is a nearly new set. All of the wear pads are good, bushings look brand new.

    I'm happy.

Now... Anyone want to buy a good set of 63s and a RuffStuff Ideal 63 kit? I didn't think I would find a set of Alcans like I did, so I had already bought everything for 63s (but still didn't really want to do 63s)... Actually, I'll probably hold on to this stuff for next year when I decide to change things up again (spend more money) and long travel

Now that I'm thinking about it... It may have been around 300 for tax AND shipping.

But still 1000 for leafs, 300 for tax and shipping, 150 for hardware... that's still real close to 1500
