What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Been having issues with the oil pressure light going crazy even though the engine has good oil pressure, and also the temp gauge not really working going straight to warm.

Pulled the air intake off and the wiring harness that has both temp and oil sensor wires running through it looks pretty rough...found visible damage to the temp sensor pigtail...could not find visible damage to the oil sensor pigtail but i suspect there is some somewhere or the pigtail is bad.

Re installed the sensor re wrapped all these wire and no oil pressure light yet acted normally 50 miles this morning.


I hate wirring.

 

the wiring over on that side of the engine is real brittle thanks to beingt above the exhaust. Super annoying having to deal with it. All the split looming just basically fell off of mine.

 

My 95 has finally show up. So im officially up to 4 tacos. 2022 is the year of mending all said tacos. (and the mr2..)

FAIR. but im officially out of room to store all these parts.
2021 i bought 3 tacomas (this one technically right before the new year)... so i wasnt planning on all this till.. well impulse purchases

 

So at this point the frame off restoration one and the merc have no chance huh?

find an engine for the merc and i'll have it done in a week. i just cant bring myself to put a modern engine into it.

 

There was always a faint glimmer of hope, cause it was gonna be such a clean build I had hopes for it. But after seeing it get moved to a storage unit... yeah it ain't coming back until an episode of storage wars.

 

Why, it's not a particularly valuable model at all. Could stay half loyal with an OM617 and you'll still have no wiring to do really.

 

eh im just weird and like the fact is pretty much complete sans a taillight lens and piece of chrome.. otherwise its stock to 1966.

 

But will never run again or what?

Got the KO2’s put on today. Waiting on the lift to come in. Cannot get over the mean sidewalls on these tires.
