    Give them a call. Their customer support is great and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you which ones you need

    I got their brackets and sliders. They work great, but didn't come with instructions so I had to kind of dick around with them for a while to get them not to jam up on themselves and stuff

    Mostly because she ain't done just yet. I have a couple cross members to add but I need to setup the rear suspension first so I don't put anything in the way and not everything is here yet, I figured I could get this annoying task out of my way while I wait

    No problem at all. It does cover them up a little bit but they are still accessible. Here’s a better view. You can tilt the screen but do to the size it can only be moved slightly both up and down and side to side.

    This is sprayed, but I do have some Rustoleum in a quart too. They make the same shit in the can in a quart jug if you go to ACE hardware they usually have it. I only rolled on the primer. But I will be rolling on the black that goes on top of the frame under the truck cab.

    I'm about to pull my bed and box the frame and do some other stuff, so I might try and pick up a can to do with a brush and get into the small nooks and crannies. Looks like it laid out pretty well.

    Nah, the web of the frame doesn't really need anything, it isn't what bears the bulk of the load haha. I don't really get those brackets but people really like em I guess. I've got some more effective methods to reinforce and stiffen the frame. The crossmembers really give the frame its rigidity so I'll be modifying and adding an X brace

    I edited it to add info, got some different braces in the works instead. Thought about boxing too but decided against it, I'm a good bit lighter than most. I'm pretty sure I'm right though, the top and bottom sections of the frame bear the brunt of the load, the web doesn't see the forces as acutely, also why there's so many holes punched in it. I'm no engineer so correct me if I'm wrong but that's what all my reading got at.

    Speaking of weight. I hit the scales today. I didn't get a full load out weight . Probably a extra 150 lbs. But I had a full gas tank ,10 gal of water 5 of gas ,co2tank ,recovery equipment and some chairs. Just missing the frige ,food ,kitchen kit and bedding.
    It was nice I got front and rear weights.

    In a nutshell, the web carries the shear load and the flanges carry the bending load. So if your goal is to reduce bending moment, you are correct you would want to strengthen the top and bottom flanges. I would recommend some sort of shear reinforcement though, even with your lighter truck our frames are still prone to shear cracking.

    While cross bracing, boxing, etc, may be useful for increasing rigidity, remember that they’re not reducing the forces applied to the frame, they’re basically just moving the weak point around. Increased rigidity also corresponds to higher frequency vibrations, which will induce stress cracking as well. A balance of reinforcement for all failure modes is ideal.

    So my factory exhaust is pretty bent up. I was looking to buy one to replace it. Can anyone confirm if all 95-04 extracab 4cyl exhausts are the same from the cat back?

    If I can't locate one, I'll just chop off the bent area and have someone weld on a new pipe.

    Okay well that is excellent information, thanks for explaining it. That's what I've been trying to read up on in the past couple of days... So ideally something at the high point of the arch and extending a few inches on either side is still necessary? That might be a tight fit but I think I can plate that area. So question then, you mentioned boxing wouldn't help with this problem but wouldn't that be introducing another web to share the shear load?

    Shear is actually highest at the load point (leaf spring and shackle hangers in this case), so reinforcement around those areas would be the best. You’ll want to avoid stress risers at the ends of the reinforcement so no vertical ends of the plates.

    Boxing would definitely add another shear plane, and has the added benefit of increasing torsional rigidity of the frame rails as well. Gluing a plate to the open side of a channel isn’t as efficient as a milled rectangular tube, but seeing how far you have it stripped down that could be a good option for you.

    Bending moment is highest at the midpoint of a span, so if you’re going to reinforce the flanges the high point of the frame arch would be the place to do it.

    Okay that makes sense, I was always taught to sort of trapezoid or diamond my frame joints and assumed that went with plating too, I see why now. Not a lot of real estate at the shackle hangers to work with but I think I can whip something up. My main hangers are plenty reinforced I'd think given its now double wall and the hangers are set into the frame. I'll have questions when I get to dealing with the inside of the frame, have to get the shocks in first though.
