If you get stuck with tubbing tag me here or in a dm. Happy to help, was a learning experience myself.

can concurr that you should take your bumps off when clearancing. I run into the same thing with rubbing in higher speed situations when turning slightly

    Stuff. Also things.
    That sounds good.

I didn’t catch that on their website. But they do good work, so I’m not surprised that they’ve tried to factor in larger tires. You’ll definitely want to stuff them somehow if you can just to make sure.

If you have any questions about the tubbing, let me know. It sucks pretty much start to finish, but the reward is being able to see that big ass tire spinning freely when it’s stuffed at full lock :D

My tubbing dragged out a while (all my projects seem to), but I’ll see if I can find the page in my build thread where the magic starts. It’s pretty much just pics, but that can help a ton.

Oh, and just be aware that your alignment numbers will definitely affect how your cuts come out when it’s all done. I ended up going all the way back to the hinge plate and into the body mount on the frame, but others have been able to not have to go as big. You’ll also have to apply some hammer to the inner fenders under the air box and the battery. It’s all part of the fun.

Regardless, good luck, and be safe. There’s a ton of flammable shit right around there.

Have faith but keep the angle grinder handy :D

Sounds like a good plan, I disagree with @m3bassman partially though - if you’re in there tubbing, cut as far back as you can. You may want to run chains, a different wheel with less BS, or jump up to 37’s. Who knows. It’s definitely not something you want to have to redo.

Did you tub for your 33s? Hope you saw the light with those 35s parked next to you

Gotta draw the line somewhere but I see your point. I would think you lose the bottom door hinge and front cab mount to run 37s. I also am timid with it because I got close to cutting too close to the clutch pedal.

So much of this, @Rhodes !

You’ll never catch yourself complaining about too much clearance, but if you don’t have enough, you’ll be kicking yourself.

In fact, I took the sage advice of my friend @TMFF , and used his stock bumpstops that he had cut down to about half of their thickness during my tubbing. It allowed me to push the tire up further than what the stock hockey pucks would normally allow. That automatically provides a nice bit of margin once you go back to the normal bumpstop post-tubbing.

    Just a thought.

No, but I did basically everything short of it with a bigass 10lb sledge

Haha ya we'll see what the future holds. Thinking maybe a 34 before a full 35. Also gotta figure a way to keep the 01-04 flare on my 00 fenders that have no holes for the upper mounting.

That's probably easier than you realize. Transfer the holes from the flare to the fender and drill. Then just bolt them on, it's what I did at least to secure the flares.

Great advice again! I’ve got it up on stands. Coilovers off. Bump stop removed. Sway bar disconnected. Stopping for a coffee before shit gets real. Haha.

first stop today was grabbing extra disks for the grinder, plus for my little 3” cutter. No going back now :)

and that’s why I was told to go an extra inch in case I wanted chains. I don’t want 37’s on this truck. I stand by this statement. 35’s are as large as I want to go…

The truck dysmorphia is real. Those 35’s start to look like 33’s after a couple years lol

Ain't that the truth. Park next to some 40s and it's bad for your mental health.

foreal. Made my truck feel like a lil baby out there driving around next to rigs where the smallest tire you see is a 35.

I cut mine to the door hinge as well, actually i think I cut my hinge a bit even.

Also Im not totally sure what tire size you have(35x12.5vs315s) but if you've done enough searching you'll notice a different hole cut by different tires. The 35x12.5s end up cutting wider holes usually than someone with 315s. Thats a bit of a generalization as alignment and wheel setup factors in too, but just something I've noticed.

It's definitely not the funnest project but worth it I think. Bigger tires help a lot. It's just a damn expensive mod given all the other shit that goes with it.

I wish I could get to seeing how the 35s clear. Tires, along with damn near everything else I need, are backordered. :annoyed:

Guess it's time to start bobbing the bed and building a new rear bumper.

It's totally a real thing, I sure felt insecure after my first hammers trip and was tubbing 2 months later

And every time I return from an ultra4 trip I start cruising pirate2x4 classifieds for a crawler.... Maybe one day...
