Made some progress on the air to water intercooler setup. Still some mount brackets and wiring the pump to something that on when the truck is running.

It doesn't count if you don't post it in here right? Lol. I didn't take pics during install, but got the tundra upgrade done. The truck does stop A LOT better! I used oem pads and rotors, reman napa eclipse calipers, and the conversion line kit from the guys who makes them here. Great upgrade for ~$400 imo.

Test fit some new wheels and tires yesterday. Just got tired of SCS playing games with their wheel releases so went with some 17x8.5 Icons and the Geolandar for tread. Everyone and their dog has SCS wheels now where I live and I think these Icons looks way better.

Also did the full 3k service, changing fluids and greasing her up again since I've been wheeling the shit out it lately.

Gained a significant lift from the new wheel tire setup which is a bonus! Any opinions?

Yes, but did you 3D print your filter? Create a LED-illuminated, liquid-cooled, methanol-injected system for it?

After my fun week in the Kofa National Wildlife refuge I noticed torn inner boots on both my CV axles.

    16453177344210.jpg

They are both from CVJ and, if I remember correctly, they offered an option for "good, better or best" boots and I chose "best" so it is somewhat disappointing that they both tore at essentially the same time. After a quick Q&A session here I felt okay driving the 700+ miles home before replacing them. I just got two replacements through my buddy's shop at his cost ($100ea) and installed them yesterday. I have "helped" (watched with a beer in one hand and lots of dumb questions) on this job before but never done it myself so this was slower than I'd like to admit but a good learning experience and really pretty straight-forward to do (although I am glad I was doing this on nice, flat, clean concrete rather than out in the middle of nowhere).

    16453177346451.jpg

I didn't bleed and only spilled a beer once so I consider that a win-win.

    16453177347112.jpg
I wanted to tighten everything to exact torque specs but buddy (who races KOH and Baja) laughed and said "tight" is right. We compromised - I torqued the 4 steering knuckle to lower ball joint bolts to the correct 58 ft/lbs but just ugga-dugged the axle bolt on with an air ratchet and called it good. No new and/or ugly vibrations or noises on the test drive so I now am happy.

Got the reboot kit that @turbodb recommended which I will use soon enough to reboot one of the axles and have it with me as a spare but for now it is Miller Time (just kidding, I have better taste in beer than that).

Looks good. I'm learning the same painful lesson. Looking for an access or Truxedo roll up. Keep reading about people buying them in the $200's but everything I see is closer to $400. Granted not as bad as those buying $1k+ tops

Sooo, when I bought my truck it was daylight and although the seller showed me that he had installed rock pod lights there were a number of higher priority things I wanted to make sure were right. Wasn't until 3 nights later when I actually tried to turn them on that I discovered he somehow wired them to the headlights. So every time I turn my headlights on look like this. Yesterday finally found the control module and disconnected them till I can get them wired to a rocker switch

I bought a cheapie roll-up from eBay for about $150 new.

The build quality is decent. The fitment isn't great, but I was willing to make it work for the price.

The included clamps seemed to be the wrong size. They contacted the vertical part of the bed rail before reaching the horizontal part. I re-used the clamps from the cover I was replacing, which were of a similar design but without the clearance issue. I think I could have made the original clamps work but this was easier.

The latch is a pain to get to catch. The side rails tend to twist down (maybe I don't have them installed quite right?) and need to be pushed up from the inside when latching. It's especially bad when things are cold and stiff. I haven't had any issues with the latch slipping once it's closed, at least.

So yeah... it's not great, but it's only $150.

This is the exact listing that I bought from. There are others that are selling similar/identical products: https://www.ebay.com/itm/173594364403

I had the same experience with the cvj "orange/red" boots. Too thin and brittle IMO. Not worth the upgraded price.

The good news is you have a set of OEM axles now as spares. Reboot them. A messy but not that hard job that will cost about $50/kit.

Thanks, appreciate the advice. Will check that out. Still trying to figure out if can keep the stock bedliner.

I think the geolanders are a pretty underrated tire, they look badass. Side question.. is your grill color matched white? I see your side maker lights are. I got a chrome grill right now and I’m torn between going black or color match white. If you got a picture that’d be great.

Started hacking into the roof for the 4 runner map light. Shoutout to @unstpible and @nzbrock for the idea.

Never been so meticulous with a knife in my life. Have made about 1200 cuts. Luckily the bracket and mirror bolt right up.

Nice! I should really get one of those brackets. I just epoxied a nut to the roof and it's somehow held up for years.
