I have a Champion sitting around - if I had the time & a MIG inverter machine I'd buy a spool gun and run more weld material anywhere it seemed weak. Then you'd only have to worry about non-structural places failing.

You can have my oem if you want. I changed it out thinking it would resolve my overheating issue and it didn’t. So now I have the oem sitting in the shed.

I have the 18" single core Denso radiator on my v6 MT Tacoma, and it stays nice and cool even when slow speed crawling with the AC blasting. I also have the stock fan and clutch setup for reference. Even with all this crap Infront of my radiator, including a big ass steering cooler, winch control box and the winch itself it runs nice and cool.

I’m sticking with the “if it ain’t broke…” method for now. It’s my second vehicle so not too worried about it failing on me. Everything I’ve read about the champion radiator's has been mixed. If and when it does fail, I’ll probably switch to the Koyo rad.

I do appreciate the heads up though. You guys are the best at looking out for everyone. :fistbump:

I have the V6 Auto. I swear the auto trans really brings the truck down a couple notches. The MT is way better.

Right now I've placed an order for the Toyota OEM one. Talked to the parts guy and he said, "There are several available nationwide but not very many left, so we can for sure fulfil your order."

That sounds a lot like, "there's one in NY" (but there isn't really), so we'll see. :fingerscrossed:

Very interesting. I looked on DensoProducts.com and they only had the A/T one listed. I figured that meant there were no other models. I'll probably go the 20" route if the OEM falls through.

Am I right that the 20" is equivalent to the stock M/T size?

    Here's to hoping!

Thanks for the offer. My OEM still works, it's just that it's 22 years old and I figured I'll do a bit of proactive replacement since I'm going to be in there doing the timing belt anyway (and so already have to remove the radiator).

When I researched and replaced my radiator, I was under the impression that all the densos had the provisions for the AT fluid cooler. I opted to go with some other parts store brand that I don't recall.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Think we finally figured out my kids 4runner.

Replaced the fuel injectors from the spare motor I've got. Found, the previous owner had replaced the injectors with best we can tell, either Chinese crap off Amazon, or O'Reilly's... they weren't the brown OEM for sure. Figured we would start there.

While he had the plenum off he decided to check the temp sensor... ya, that was nearly broken in half... so we grabbed the temp sensor off the spare motor too.

Everything seems to be happy now. Starts right up, idles right about where it should.

    We'll :fingerscrossed:

For you Manual trans guys, using the Auto trans radiator would be a good time to swap out to replace and run PS cooler lines utilizing the trans cooler functionality, especially with bigger tires. Gain a bit more fluid and inline cooler, since OE there is none.

I think you'd be way better off running a separate, external cooler.

Could run either as any inline cooler would help, hard to beat basically a free cooler from the Rad swap. Pwr Str already uses ATF so no issues there.

I think @Squeaky Penguin's point is you are better off with an external cooler since you aren't getting heat coming off the coolant flowing through the rad potentially affecting the steering temps too.
