SO.. I’m attempting to redo my bed with raptor liner the right way this time.
I figured I’ll try grinding all the old liner off first. First time using a grinder for a job like this and only second time using one at all. I dont think I’ll be getting 100% of it out but I’ll try. I’m open to any tips or suggestions as well. I think this grinder wheel is working so far but what do you guys think.

The whole bed? That sounds miserable. I would look into a chemical to strip the existing liner from the metal.

I've done a mod or two
I've stripped paint chemically, brush it on scrape/rinse it off, shiny steel revealed. But no clue if it works with bedliner

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

If you end up going back to that grinder, you'll want a wire wheel instead of sanding disc.

I have done part of mine because I’m going to redo it with raptor liner as well. The best way I have found it get an edge up, then use a screw driver or pry bar of sorts to just gently work underneath and just keep working it up. It is going to suck.

If you find that it evaporates too quickly, you can put it down then cover with Saran Wrap and let it soak.

might also look into citristrip, similar results as aircraft remover but way easier on the lungs.

+1 for citrustrip if it works for this application, using it feels way less likely to end your life

If the chemical stuff doesn't work, which it should, a non woven stripping wheel will work way better than a grinding wheel. Though I've never tried one on bed liner.

That's a flap disc. Get a wire wheel. The sandpaper in the flap disc will hat get clogged. Plus not cheap.

And I would never use a grind wheel for that.

Gonna suck to do the whole bed.

Ok so I’ve decided to compromise on the chemical for now, might come back to it later. Sounds like the wire wheel and the non woven are the go-to for this job so I’m gonna run back to ace hardware and see what they got. The grinder wheel seems to work but definitely does dull up somewhat quickly. Thank you everyone.

Get a respirator if you're gonna go that way still. No need to fill your lungs up with bedliner.
