Yeah it's already beating up the bushing after a few years. I don't think there was a 3/4 bolt with a longer shoulder available without ordering a box of 20 when I needed it

Yeah thats not gonna be great for your lower bushings...which also I hope you are replacing. thing looks pretty chewed. But any new bushings on the bolt and it'll die a fast death.

Or you can run a sleeve which will help. The threads will eventually wear down likely and not work great.

yeah, I'll dig around at Ace and see what I come up with. Maybe I still have the original spring plates and can cut the shock mount off of those.

if not I'm not too worried. When i wheel this truck it gets trailered. It think I've put like 1000 mi on it in 3 years. it'll hold me over til I get the energy to commit to a new rear axle LOL

Put on the hood strut mod from Spiker Engineering. Not exactly necessary, but I figure it just makes all the under-the-hood work a touch more enjoyable.

PS - I found a trekking pole is just about perfect for propping the hood to the new height during install.

favorite mod of mine that I didn't know I needed. Well I guess no one really needs it, but it's nice just lifting the latch and having the hood rise up on it's own with a small push.

I thought about it, but were just gonna weld it up here at work lol. If I have to for some reason pull the motor one day I'll just cut it and re-do the exhaust completey.

I put one more gasket in it...made it a day...now i'ts blowing leaking again.

Cam tab gussets worth the time and effort? Just curious as I see a bunch of local 2nd and 3rd gen guys but it could just be the "overlanding" cool thing to do :notsure:

You got a problem holding an alignment? If so then it’s worth it. I should do mine. After big wheeling trips my alignment is fucked haha

Yep. Makes a huge difference in being able to hold alignments when wheeling.

Those and spindle gussets should be on any taco that gets wheeled IMO.

No more losing alignments after getting these. Definitely a pita to install though.

Not neccessarily but it would be nice once I get new lowers to not have to really worry about alignments all too often

Cool just didn't know if they actually held them or if it was a fancy gimmick like a few other overlanding stuff

Yeah I saw my buddy do it and it's a PITA but it seems worth it then. I'll have to ask him and see how he thinks of his

@Digiratus @Squeaky Penguin or anyone else rocking some. Think we could get a good look at your cam tabs? I've never seen them installed but I hear about them all the time and it's been in my wheelers cart for months now (I like letting parts sit on someone else's parts shelf until I need them)

I started playing with a free welder yesterday and I feel addicted already

I've done a mod or two
Having done both for others... the cam-tabs... pain in the ass to install... and to remove the stockers. The spindle gussets at least are really easy to fitup and weld on (don't use your flux core for this, or really either of these)

I wouldn't want my ugly boogers on those spindles anyway. I am hoping the local exhaust shop will weld it for me. I already talked to them about possibly doing rock sliders for me after they do my headers
