Just replaced the trailer wiring harness. Pretty cheap part, and a satisfying bite-sized project. It gave me the chance to relocate the wiring to tuck it more neatly up and out of the way. I think of the trailer hitch almost like rear-end armor, so I didn't like how the old wiring was wrapped around the crossmember.

I drove through a puddle last week so I washed her today and scrubbed out the wheel wells. Yeah, I know….

I did the front suspension today, had planned on starting around 8 but by the time I slept in, mowed, and got a tire mounted on my other car it was already time for lunch before I started on the taco... guess I'll do the rear tomorrow. Front end suspension was waaaay easier than I expected, kinda feel like a fool for having any level of nervousness about it. My UBJs/UCAs are begging for mercy now so I'm going to add Camburgs or similar to the top part of my list going forward.

Any tips before I tackle Dakars tomorrow? I have Firestone ride rites and I'm kinda just planning on winging it if they don't magically mount up to the Dakars with the hardware that's already on there.

It's only got a couple coats of primer but I threw the All-Pro IFS skid plate on this morning.
    IMG_20220514_153746.jpg
The rear skid mounds were all bent out of shape (probably from the same thing that mangled the OEM skid plate)
    IMG_20220514_151804.jpg

I'm supposed to be getting DT headers installed next week so I probably should have left it off a little longer but I've got some wheeling to do in the meantime and would rather have it and not need it

I also bought a 1" thick kinetic rope just in case my brother's jeep gets stuck again
    IMG_20220513_120828.jpg
Another item I'd prefer not to need

I think I've used maybe 10 rivits in my entire life so I probably wouldn't be investing in pneumatic just yet.

I did however pick up a cheap homo depot riviter (rivit gun? Idk what TF it's actually called)
    IMG_20220513_213929.jpg
I literally only needed it for 1 aluminum rivit and it broke the stud in the wrong spot so I had to revert back to the old Stanley.
I think if I can find the right size spring I can fix the Stanley riviter but right now the studs get jammed every time

Finally got the rims painted today. Our 16yo art student did a killer job on the center caps.

Swapped out spherical bearings today thanks to @turbodb write up and @TMFF for the parts. Pretty easy and damn one side was really bad (besides the constant squeak)

Also added the AAL I've had sitting around and swapped in some brand new u-bolts since it's been a minute and the 303 top plates for the front until I can get @Reh5108 welded top plate gussets . Very long day

No pics because I suck :)

If you haven't already attached it...

Did a little dinkin around on some trucks today.

@Kwikvette got some new Dobinsons coils and Icon shocks on all 4 corners.

Our buddy @essjay did some maintenance. Replaced the serpentine belt adjusted rear brakes. And some other miscellaneousnous.

    20220514_091414.jpg

And keeping with the thread title... I adjusted my rear brakes. Made a HUGE improvement... still don't have an e-brake tho lol

Sounds good! Just checked all of it and no cracks so this can get pushed back until I'm ready for it. But looking forward to it!

Got to spend a sunny afternoon working on the taco. Cut my old, bent-to-shit front cab mount off and then welded in one I sourced from a chunk of frame I had stashed. And since I had the welder out and easy access I chased down some sheet metal cracks in the engine bay as well. Hey guys I’m new to this forum quick story I have a 3rz 98 single cab MT so I’m pulling the engine and I have everything prepped other than the fact that my book is telling me to pull the slave cylinder and Leo the speedometer cable as well does anyone know if that’s actually necessary since I’m not pulling the trans with it ? Also sorry if this isn’t the right section to post this in.

Thanks. It’s called graphite in the VHT brand. Got it from AutoZone. Did 4 coats of paint and 4 of clear coat.
