What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

right there with you. Maybe one day if I ever find myself living in another state with no smog laws.

I like the setup. its set up to run power into the cab to charge my battery pack, that runs my cooler. If I’m not using the that , I can switch it to my main battery. I’ve got no complaints.

 

Do y’all think these are still serviceable? Would you reuse them or ditch em like u bolts?

 

Shackles are definitely not like U-bolts. U-bolts stretch when they are torqued, (they also can deform due to the stresses they are under) and generally should be replaced every time. Shackles are not like that. They aren't a disposable part per se.

With that being said, I wouldn't run those shackles on my truck.

 

All I see is dirt and surface rust, wire wheel and send it.

 

You're going to spend about the same on new bushings anyway so just get a $50 kit with new shackles and move on with your life

 

Cascadia 4x4? I think the one that seemed like the best fit was for a Nissan.

I didn't see anything specific for a 1st gen taco. I also would love a small panel for my riding lawnmower

It's a time vs money matter. either clean them up and reuse (what I did recently) or buy new and slap them on.

 

on a related note, I just noticed this… Does anyone know the bolt and nut size I need to replace this? It’s for the leafspring Bolt closest to the front of the truck

 

Yikes, lucky that didn't come all the way out. I had the main eye bolt come loose once on a trail and it made a racket.

 

Wheelers sells a pair, not sure on the specs

 

I got mine from rock auto, they’re not installed so I can look at em and get back to you in about 18 hrs.

 

It's a M14x1.5x100mm.

9/16 Fine thread nut and washer did it.

thought I’d try to push the bolt through before pulling it out and the threads seemed OK
