Excellent work!! I'm curious about your plans for the front diff? Are you going to have it electronically activated? That seems overly complicated since you are using manual hubs. When I did my 4x4 conversion on a '97 4Runner I just removed the diff actuator, slid the shift yoke over to engage the passenger side axle, then locked it in place with a worm clamp.

Thank you. Yea, I did that same hose clamp mod to lock it in and ditched the add stuff. A manual Jack shaft/or diff tube would have been nice, but maybe I’ll find one down the road. How did clamping it hold up for you? From what I’ve read, it seems like there wouldn’t be much reason for the hose clamp to fail.

I was dreading it forever. I don’t know if it’s just cause was happily consuming beers while doing it, but it wasn’t that bad to me. I think all said and done was about 7.5 hours. Taking my time. Keeping all the hardware separated. Just do it! I have faith in you.

    Looks good.

Grille swapped here also. Might as well with the bumper off for the trans cooler. I'm not entirely happy with the blacked out emblem/badge. Might paint it white to match (040). Still on the fence with it.

Someone really needs to do a detailed 2 to 4 conversion write up. Lots of information here, just scattered about.

Absolutely. I've referenced your thread as well as a few others along with frequent searching and brain picking more times than I can count. I keep telling myself to start a conversion/build thread or at the least a transfer case thread in the tech section but of course the procrastination kicks in. I've noted a lot on the tcase and taken more pics than I can count so at least I have content. Just have to do it.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
seems my father keeps benefiting from all the shit i collect.. put a set of take off wheels and tires on the truck to buy him time to get the suspension done and put proper tires on w/e set of wheels he wants.

so now it has the axle off my wrecked one, the radio from it, and the take off wheels i was given as payment for work i did... damn

New leaf springs for the work truck. Deaver j59 leaf pack. 235k on the originals. Hopefully this fixes the axel wrap and just maybe It won’t bottom out now with a load on the rack

Where'd you order them from and (if you don't mind) how much did they charge for the parts and shipping?

I've been after a set but the only places I can find them in stock at the moment are charging more than I feel good about.

6P4. I am fortunate to live about 15 minutes away from deaver spring. I bought them in 2020 and never put them on. Wish I did put them on when I bought them , much better ride. Atlas spring is also located in so cal and they have oem replacements to full long travel springs. I have heard good things about them. They might be able to ship to your location.

it’s one of those “I know I can do this but I really don’t wanna” kinda projects. I’ve rebuilt my ac, done the timing belt bull shit, and dropped and reinstalled the trans at this point. I know I can do it, I just have no immediate desire to do it.

Man, I wish I had thought of that when I was in California earlier this year. I practically drove past Deaver on the 405 and didn't even realize.

Dropping the trans is way more difficult than valve cover gaskets. It's a bit tedious, but relatively easy. Just make sure to tape up the wire looms in the valley. I got lucky with mine, but my motor only had 100k on it at the time...
