What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Not going to work (don't ask how I know lol). The typical kits on Amazon are too small or too cheaply made. OTC has a large bearing separator but I'm just going to Dremel them.

Or for the same price and less labor i could just be lazy and order new hubs from rock auto

 

If you don't already have a Dremel, get one. Comes in handy for quite a few things. Good tool to have in the arsenal.

Lew was very quick with a reply to my online quote request, then we talked a little on the phone. I'll be going out to get a weight reading and then sending that on to them.

 

looks good, I replaced mine last year. I got tired of scratching my arm up when driving with the window down. Super simple to replace.

Lol, yeah we’ll see. I’m replacing the bed with a flatbed within the year, so I might just see if some cerakote wipes get me there. Not going to paint them, just don’t think it’s worth all that. Balancing between being well-used but not neglected is an ongoing discussion.

 

Have you checked out the thread "Replace your Trim" in the 1st gen forum? I got a new set for under $180 but it's been a few months since I bought mine

Has anyone heard of using a 2nd gen TruXedo lo pro for a 5' short bed in our 5' 2" beds?

Had a lead on a good priced 2nd gen lo pro. Looks like it's not just size but how the rails are secured as well. Just trying to avoid paying $500+ for a roll up tonneau.

 

Trying to find a small sheet/section of this stuff. The third gen 4Runner shift boot has it. The tacoma does not. It's similar to old school firewall/hood insulation but more like a filler/sound proofing material. I'm drawing a blank here trying to locate it - anyone knows the approximate name for this stuff? In the pic below you can see it attached to the inside of the boot.

 

Jute padding, can get it at most car upholstery places or online. Pretty inexpensive
