Yeah I woulda been willing to drill it out if needed before I stuck the new bearing in if I’d known about these thingamajigs.

How is it stuck? Its made out of rubber. If you can get the bolt out, just twist it out. I can't imagine it breaking in two.

Maybe if I grip and twist it. I tried wedging a chisel between the sensor and knuckle and it wouldn’t budge.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Has anyone else had this problem?

I overheated the splined freewheel on a manual hub body. It appears to have overheated between the splined piece (pictured) and the brass race the splined piece passes through (can't see that in picture).

I had a spare hub body, I installed the spare after disassembling it and making sure it was well greased. I also applied a bunch of grease inside the actual hub, to the needle bearings, and CV shaft that passes through the hub.

I over heated the second hub body a day later.

Ok I had time left to finish the other half of this knuckle today. Hub, spacers, inboard seal installed. Just needs a UBJ, but that’s a tomorrow problem. Look at that byoot.

I've done a mod or two
I cut a tiny section from mine so I could remove them independent of the hub.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Started to squeak. When I went to check it, the manual hub dial was so hot it burned my finger tips. I locked the hubs (with pliers because it was hot) and the noise went away.

When I pulled the hub body off and looked at the back, where the c-clip is, it was discolored like it was heated. The grease was burnt, and it smelled like burnt axle grease. And the brass race seemed to have evidence like a spun bearing.

When the second one happened it was all the same as it was the first time.

Interesting. Never had that happen to me when I had manual hubs. I never really regreased them that often either.
I've seen people have issues with the brass preload nut on the back that rides on the CV, wearing through and shaving down. But nothing really on the hub body like what you experienced.

Was the one you replaced it with a brand new hub body?

No the spare wasn't new. But it was in as good of condition as the first one was, when I put it on the truck a couple years ago... lol

The spare was smooth turning, no reason why it would have had a problem.

I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the CV axle I just put in. I replaced both of them. They are just AutoZone CVs I had for trail spares (new). I was going to run these until this winter when I started dicking with the long travel thing.

The only thing I can come up with is maybe the CV shaft is slightly too big and is causing that spline to hang up and the spline isn't turning at the same speed as the wheel, causing friction. I looked at that when I was putting the second manual hub body on, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I tried to free up the seized/partially seized pistons on my caliper but there was one of the three that I just couldn't get. Went and got a reman caliper from O'Reilly, painted it to match, and got it installed with some new front brake lines and bled the system. I wanted to paint the rear drums and hubs today as well but I think that may have to wait.
