    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Initial thought on the @TOTAL CHAOS Lower ball joints.

The alignment sleeves have too much powder coat on them for them to easily fit in to the spindle.

A special socket needed to install them? (top of Ball Joint)

I guess I can look past the boojie bolt for clearance purposes... but for a grand, I'd expect the sleeves to sit in the spindle correctly. (those are the biggest source of LBJ failure after all)

Am I being picky? Maybe. But those are my initial thoughts.

    More thoughts on the LBJs.

About 1/8 inch of slop between at the tie rod connection to the misalignment spacer (using normal off the shelf spacers)

To be fair... (to them) They say on their site that if using someone else's steering linkage a TC specific spacer set may be needed.

To be fair... (to me) I called and told them I would be using other misalignment because I'd be fabricating my links. They had no idea of any special "TC specific" misalignment spacers and told me off the shelf misalignment will work.

So... we'll be rocking a stainless washer on top and bottom of the misalignment to take up the slack.

Again... for a grand... I expect more.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

7/8 x 7/8 heim kit with 5/8 misalignment spacers, from Ruff Stuff.

I'd say their misalignments are pretty dead nuts at 2 inch.

    20230517_063157.jpg

The distance on the ball joint to the double shear bracket is 2.14720230517_063215.jpg

2.147 is somewhere between 2 1/8, and 2 5/32. That's not a legitimate measurement. Common increments on misalignments is going to be closer to 1/4s than in 1/8s. No one has 2 5/32 misalignments. What that measurement is, is what happens when you don't have your stuff tight in your jig when you weld it.

But the main point about this is, their site says specifically, that TC specific misalaignments may be neccesary... which is fair enough. But when you call them, no one knows what those "specific" misalignments are, they don't have them available, and they tell you that you don't need them.

150thou should be easy enough to take up with a washer or since the double sheer bracket is made out of thin steel tighten the fuck out of the bolt until it becomes 2" haha

Ya, I'm going to split the difference and take it up with a stainless washer on top of and below the misalignments.

I didn't measure the double shear plate, but it's at least 3/16 (possibly 1/4) (not at home to look at it close right now). I could just squish it in a vice and take it down to 2 inch. But I think it's better overall to just leave it and spacer it rather than putting a bunch of force on the double shear plate.

Again... maybe I'm just being picky, but I just have to say again, that I would expect better.

Fair to be picky, think it just wandered a bit from the weld process?

I'm pretty stoked to see new stuff still being developed for the first gen given it's age at this point.
