I just swapped them out for some Coopers last month actually, I waited too long on getting the 4runner aligned and unfortunately it wore 'em down on the outer half real quick. But that was no fault of the tire, they were great traction-wise and road noise-wise like you said. I would have gotten them again but needed something that the shop had on hand before our last road trip.

I did save one of the rears to use as a full size spare though.

For all my complaining of stiffness of the E-load S/T Maxx, I've been extremely impressed with their performance over 5 sets of 5 tires. Traction has seemed great and durability has been amazing. Like you said, gashes, etc. seem to be a non issue. Haven't gotten a trail flat before this one.

Hopefully the Kendas are just as good. They are definitely softer, so far, which I like.

Falken has the AT4 in 255/85r16 in C-load. It's just as heavy as other E-Loads in the same size, but maybe others (Toyo?) will follow suit and offer their AT4s in that size in C-Load in the future, hopefully with a lower weight. Would be nice for anyone who isn't trying to run an MT.

It seems like it's actually easier to find C-Load tires for a 15" rim. Of course I'm looking at 33" tires, not 35+.

It is easier to find c load in 15 and 17... 16 was the common size for heavy duty trucks (3/4 - 1t) so it gets a ton of e loads

All this tire talk and my buddy brought his GF's car over last night to see if I could figure out a noise in the front end
    IMG_20240826_173234.jpg
The noise = me gasping every time it doesn't pop when she moves more than 3 inches.

Sway bar end links were loose and a torn cv boot.

    IMG_20240826_173120.jpg
I found 3 different plugs in the two front tires alone, I guess they really wanted to get their money's worth out of the tires

Yeah now that my Maxx's are broken in they flex super nice at 10 psi crawling.

[IMG]Untitled by MJH Creations, on Flickr

That being said though I can definitely tell the difference in softness running the OEM bronco tires at 16-17 psi:

[IMG]Untitled by MJH Creations, on Flickr

They are 315/70r17 load c rated and they extra sidewall flex def adds to the go fast comfort on the softball sized rocks.

One time I was called out at 1 AM to help my buddy who got a flat on his Saturn SC2 he thought was a racecar. I came out with a plug kit, tire sealant and a compressor. When I got there I saw his tires looked like this and the wires sticking out with a massive hole. I'm like dude I can't fix this, where is your spare?

He said he removed it for "weight savings". :bananadead:

Straight from the factory. I'd doubt it's ever seen an alignment rack

My Kenda's are Es and they air down very nice.

Yeah but you are regeared, he's not, and you are turbo which is way more efficient than the blower he has plus you're running a proper tune and he's not.

He'd have to spend a lot of money to get that I think gears(2kish depending on if you slap a front locker while you're in there) plus 1500? For the ecu and then he has to find someone to tune it local ish which I bet wouldn't be too hard.

Those are wheels off a 1st Gen Sequoia/Tundra right? Planning on painting mine bronze at some point as well. They look good.

I was amazed at how deep some of the sidewall cuts were on the MAXX I ran. I liked them.

Like everyone else I feel the Klever are softer. I think they offer better winter traction as well. Time will tell how durable they are. I don't find myself wheeling difficult trails like I used to though.

That’s interesting. There are no led bulbs in it except for the interior map lights. I finally got 4wd working by tapping the actuator on the transfer case with a hammer.

Regear is an option. Tuning really would only matter for in boost, otherwise it's the base Toyota tune. Granted it could probably be tweaked in that lower range for fuel economy instead of always holding 14.7 afr. I was a little bummed I didn't get it on a Dyno in Spokane as I am curious how it performs based on the data. Otherwise it never misses a beat driving around normal or when in boost and you really get a kick in power when that 7th injector wakes up. The killer is more unsprung weight, worse aero, and obviously the bigger gear to climb against. 4.88 would fix that though. And no, I wouldn't do a front locker.

I noticed this as well. The ride on the trail (at the same 17-18psi) is a lot nicer in the Kendas, even though they are E.

Yep, these are off the 1st Gen Sequoia (maybe Tundra as well, but I knew them as Sequoia). They do look good (I mean, really similar to the 4Runner 5-star) but are definitely going to need a spacer behind them.

The Maxx were nice for sure. Would be a tough decision on my next set right now, though I hope that by then, I like the Kendas more.

Snow performance is amazing. I'm considering getting a set and adding studs for my daily. They work really good even without studs. The best all around tire I've ever run.

Well between the 35s and a regear you could have gotten probably 2 or 3 sets of 32s or 33s hahaha or put that towards your van life trip fund.

This whole new life adventure is putting the sabbatical on hold for now. And the 35s aren't that much more than a 33, so not harm there. Fuel economy will be the killer.

Installing this tomorrow. I do have one question.. I know you can install either in series or out of series with the radiator and everyone has their own reasons why they choose which.
Question: if I run this out of series from the radiator (Hayden cooler by itself) will it still cool the ATF considerably or will I not notice much of a difference? Is the only way to see a considerable difference by installing it with the radiator? This is the Hayden 678.

I'm sure it'll work fine by itself. But I'd do it after the radiator.

Running it through the radiator is almost mandatory where harsh winters are the norm. In the desert, or anywhere the cold months are not that cold (like SoCal), bypassing the radiator is probably Ok.

The reason to run it in series is to take advantage of engine coolant temps to warm up the trans fluid. When the outside temps are at or below freezing, the trans fluid temps may not be able to get hot enough to protect the fluid on a standalone setup.

FWIW, I run mine in series and when its really cold out the trans temp will still be below 120°F which is a little on the cool side.
