What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

That extra pedal can be added and I wanted at least the tiny bed for things like fuel that I don't want to keep in the cab. I'm a fan of the 3rd pedal myself but I'll admit sometimes when crawling around the rocks the auto comes in pretty handy. I'm also not capable of hitting the gas and break at the same time with my right foot ever since a reconstructive surgery on my ankle so I'd at least need throttle hand controls for the rough obstacles.

 

the smaller bed is better. Its better to pack in my experience. And you pull the back seat and add a platform and you have TON of space in the back. Love it. Miss the manual a lot but the auto has it's place.

 

It can get tricky packing especially with the toolbox taking up a lot of real estate back there

 

ah. I don't have a tool box. Takes up too much room haha in a 6' bed I'd run one.

 

I've had the same toolbox for almost 15 years now, it's been through 4 Tacomas but it was definitely more at home in the bigger beds of that first extra cab I had or the 2nd gen double cabs

 

What did you use for the brake booster vacuum line? When I've looked in the past they were out of stock and the hoses I've tried from parts stores never fit very well

It's 12" front-to-back instead of the usual 18"-20". I liked it but eventually took it off because a completely covered bed is more useful to me than a small tool box.

 

Honestly I just used some leftover transmission line from when I installed my trans cooler recently. I think it fits pretty well.

 

Anyone know what would cause idle to drop when hitting the brakes? After warming up and while driving when i go to neutral or have the clutch in and then hit the brakes it drops from 1500 to about 1000 or 1100. Im thinking maybe its something to do with master cylinder still not being bled.

 

Sounds like a vacuum leak that gets better somewhat when you step on the brake. Try disconnecting the brake booster and clamping tjr hose shut, see it if changes

You mean my precision straight edge haha. I used the angle finder for the rest cause I could zero it on the truck since the truck certainly ain't level when it's unloaded

Okay, the box is done, all aluminum welded frame kept it super light but damn it is stout. Didn't add any weight to the truck though. Next week I'll have to take it out and carpet it.

 

Finally got around to doing the Tundra front brake upgrade w/ braided stainless lines; what a difference!!!

Out with the old and in with the new.
