When these AGMs were new they would hold 12.7v for weeks with no loss or degredation. I guess the fact that that is no longer the case is an indicator of battery age. Totally expected (and accepted) at 9 years old. But that does not mean I don't care how long they will last. I'm just trying to be proactive about it.

I think this is the best way to get as much life out of them as possible.

Pretty much. 12V batteries are designed for a number of charge cycles at a certain depth of discharge. As the depth increases, the number of expected lifetime cycles decreases. Similarly as the temperature increases, the number of expected lifetime cycles decreases. So if you can keep your battery at a steady or near-steady state of charge and preferably at about 25C, that should maximize the life.

New OEM mini header in today. Swapped out my LCE header for a walker pipe and OEM mini header. Truck is quieter I was chasing a vibration in idle and this was pretty much the last thing. Seems to have solved it. Didn’t get any better pictures

Seems like a downgrade to me. The LCE Street headed is a nice power upgrade for the 3rz

I was getting a pretty rough vibration in idle with the header. Really didn't want to swap out but it worked in curing the vibration. Definitely keeping the header for future projects, it is far too nice to part with.

Interesting. Might be worth reaching out to LCE to get their 2 cents on that.
Installed a couple of those and haven't had that result. Maybe some of your exhaust hangers are shot? The OEM header has an extra support at the mid pipe that the LCE doesn't utilize.

I went through everything trying to fix it hoping to keep the header. New exhaust, new hangers, new engine/trans mounts, ruled the engine out with IAC/plugs/wires. I’m thinking the combination of the nature of the engine + missing that clamp at the bell housing is what ultimately did it.

I really wish they would make a metal one for the tailgate, I replace that one more often. It is way easier though. My friends are terrible with my tailgate latch.

I have got them from Amazon. They have them at rockauto and eBay also. Since Dorman makes an aftermarket part you could probably get them from your local auto parts store if you wanted to, Don't forget the dealer I think toyota still makes them.

This is what I believe is crack on my exhaust manifold (I have replaced 2X before.) Done with that so have just ordered LC Engineering Header. Looks difficult to replace so may go to local shop here in North Texas (Goodes Offroad) where they have helped me with a few previous issues. Should I decide to attempt myself, can anyone suggest best way to get to the lower bolts? Do you need to remove the passenger side wheel (on 2000 Tacoma Extra Cab 4X4 with 2.7, 5 speed?)
Thank you, I am Jim (first post outside of introduction last year)

You can remove it yourself pretty easily, although expect for some of the studs to come out with it. Just remove the heat shield first and then you can get to it with common hand tools

It’s a very straightforward process. Remove the heat shield it’s just some nuts and bolts. The worst part is pulling the intake off. The LCE header just sorta slides right in.

Finally did the line-x. Had it sprayed over the rails since the plastic liner wore down paint on the top. Got the UV upcharge as the truck sits outside. Really happy with how it turned out. Going to purchase some of those billet aluminum tie downs to replace the old ones in the corner next. But man… $100 for 2 is steep.
