Got new mudguards for the new wheels and tires, OEM duplicates from EBay at a fraction of the cost. Good quality, perfect fit, and made in the USA!

Started at a friends house and was supposed to be a 2 week project, but had an injury flare up that put me out of commission. Friend has been clutch and kept the project going!

Finished restoring the frame on my 00 (wasn't too bad, just minor surface rust: sanded, Rust Kutter, fabuloso deagreaser lol, Rustoleum black and clear coat) and added a Taco Vinyl grill (painted white letters)

Got some new shoes yesterday, and used the opportunity to finally put in new Bilsteins that have been on the floor of my bedroom for a couple of months

Question: do the shocks look over compressed? Wondering if I need to get new leaf springs so the shocks don't bottom out.

Are they stock replacement (i.e. stock length) shocks? If so, they shouldn’t bottom out even with the rear suspension all the way on the bumpstops. All the springs do is set the ride height and carry the weight, they shouldn’t be used to control the limits of travel.
Ideally, your shock should have about half the shaft length showing at static ride height, therefore you’ll have equal amounts of uptravel and downtravel and the shock will be in a good location to control and dampen the suspension.

Should have specified, they are Bilstein 5100s made for a 1.5" lift. I lifted the front that much but never did anything to the back.

Yeah I better get some new ones, I'm planning to keep a softopper and some storage on the bed in the near future anyways...

Yeah if you’re running longer shocks in the rear with no lift, then the shocks are probably not sitting in the sweet spot as far as shaft position. However, they still shouldn’t bottom out at full bump if they’re specified for the stock mounting location.

Bounce dryer sheets have been known to repel mice. I use them in my vehicles when stored, especially in the engine bay near the wiring. My buddy had his TRD Pro 4Runner wiring harness destroyed, a $10,000 insurance claim to dealer replace the whole thing.

The garage and lift are in Toledo, WA. Having the lift has been a revelation after half a lifetime of scooting around on my back. The wife now rolls her eyes when I wax poetic about the glories of changing oil standing up. Though a 4-poster isn't as convenient for some tasks as a 2-poster, it's great for storage and I can do most of what I want to do with it.... and it isn't bolted to the floor so I can move it around.
If you're near Toledo and need to use it, get in touch.

Indeed. Before I got the lift, I found a place outside Portland that rented lifts (and all the tools you need) hourly; did a few jobs there, and loved it. Cool people hanging out and often willing to lend a hand.... and affordable. Wonder if there's a similar outfit in the greater Seattle area?

Sounds like a Portland thing, gotta be lucrative to get backing in Seattle, in Portland it’s probably a co-op founded by children of Scandinavian loggers
