Almost got it back on the road after a wreck last November. Insurance totaled it and I bought it back. Still need a hood and a new tire but I’m under 1k in parts so far on the rebuild.

'Tail gate service hole cover (discontinued)."

Wish I had access to the correct size of sheet metal. I'd drill the holes and slap it on there.

RE: LC Engineering Header install on 2000 4x4 Extra Cab SR5 5 spd 4 cyllinder
With encouragement from a couple of members I am installing LC engineering header. Mostly going as well as expected but apparently don't have right tool to torque one of the bolts (lower right.) Have cheapo 1/2" drive torque wrench and think I need something smaller to access that one bolt where header tube is in the way. Assuming I need a smaller torque wrench (maybe 3/8" and 14 mm socket that is a little deeper than the one I have?) Can anyone tell me what type of tool set up they used for this? I did some searching and some said no issues and one said they just "winged it." Thank you.

I have uses crows foot tools for torque in odd places. But for a situation like that I would torque a bolt, then put a 3/8" drive ratchet to "feel" the strength required on that bolt to get it to move even a little, and try to replicate that feeling.

Either buy the smaller torque wrench so you have a smaller one on hand when needed or do like I said. In the end I don't pass an opportunity to buy a tool for a specific situation because the more I did the more those tools became useful.

I’m getting ready for a steel front bumper build so I relocated the signal lights to the side marker lights. I used the post from @PcBuilder14 back in 2013. It was a great write up and pretty easy to do. Everything worked out great! I may have to buy new lights though and redo the process though as I found out the connection clips that you screw in are broken and some of the snap clips are also. They are 20 years old... They stay in enough for now.

Next up is the grill. I bought mesh and I am going to cut out the middle plastic part and replace with the mesh. I really love that look way more than the stock grill. I’ll also see what I can do with stripping the “chrome” and painting it black.

I replaced my outer door weathstrips and attempted to install a new dash clock only I have the base model bezel so I guess I’ll either be cutting mine or getting a new one that is for the clock

Picked up some used tan weather techs for cheap. I had black ones already but have been wanting tan ones or tan huskies to go with the oak interior. Also hides dirt better. Cleaned up pretty well, they look almost new.
Anyone know where to get replacement weather tech logo badges?

This makes me happy my compressor has to come out anyhow. (I'm gonna be real cranky if it's not actually seized and the belt snapped. $200 is $200)

Can anyone tell me how close I need to get my Cams to TDC when putting on the timing belt? I’m struggling to keep the cams/cranks in position as I fight the belt on. The R cam is perfect and so is the crank. The L cam looks like this. Send it or get it perfect? Those paint marks are way off not looking at those.

I've done a mod or two
If the belt is on the correct marks on the cogs you're good, the marks to the timing cover are just for quick reference.

For those with the Solo LCAs, I’ve heard you can’t get the cotter pin in the hole. But what’s wrong with rotating the joint so the hole is perpendicular as such to the truck instead of in line like normal. Thoughts?

    Hell that’s perfect. Send it.

No issue getting the cotter pin in on mine? :notsure:

    IMG_8409.jpg

Orientation doesn’t matter, if you need to rotate it to get the pin on that won’t make any difference.
