My ultra's seem to be good headlights. I'm installing fog lamps when I get a new bumper though. I'm used to the ditches being lit up better from driving my old sierra with fogs. GM over does it with lights but I've grown to like fogs.

I had silverstar ultras that lasted 6 months each. And yes I wore latex gloves before installing and even cleaned them with alcohol beforehand as well. I picked them up on ebay for less than what I could find them for in town. But I don't want to keep spending money on those bulbs. They are better than stock, but I figured I'd rather just spend $250 on a retro and call it good. Light output is extremely good and better than the ultras. I know not everyone can drop that much on lights, but if you really want better lights, you may as well just save up and do it right the first time.

    it's a downside of halogen+filaments.

brighter lights run more current through the filament, shortening the life compared to "normal" halogens

Yeah and I understood that when I bought them. I knew they wouldn't last as long, but I figured I'd get at least a year out of them.

Anyone in cold temps ever have this happen before?

I'm not sure if it's a problem with the door mechanisms or if it was just frozen and therefore not functioning properly. :notsure: This happened this morning while I was heading to class. It was about 9 degrees out. This is only the 2nd time it ever happened, the first was yesterday evening. The only difference about the two occurrences is that I just ran it through the carwash and then parked it while out for dinner right after.

This is a pain to deal with especially in this cold of weather and having to try multiple times until it finally closes and stays fully closed.

Huh, never had that happen to me...I normally have the opposite effect after taking it through the carwash in below freezing temps...My locks freeze and I can't open my door. You might have some water that got in there and just is staying frozen? :notsure:

    Yes happens to me too.

Its the latch that clamps on to the truck side of the door. It freezes up in really cold weather. Simply just spray with de-icer followed by fluid film

Now I only wear googles instead of safety glasses most of the time. And battery acid is a mother fucker in your eye btw. To me safety glasses are pointless unless they tuck up to you face, to many times I've had stuff hit my eye lids or under my glasses.

Not sure what texture you want but herculiner is very rough, if that's what you want, otherwise i would go with something else. I used some leftover on my tailgate as a test with no prep, dirty, its actually held up well, so i can see that it would do well with the proper prep.

Before i wore glasses i was religious about wearing them, but its a bitch to west them over, I've decided i need to buy a pair of prescription safety glasses. I work in a fab shop and never had a problem, little bits here and there but somehow a drop decided to go horizontal and vertical, weird.

I've had mine for about a year, far as I can tell still as bright. The Ultras like clock work would die after a year. So I'm waiting to see if these last longer.
