Installed white gauge faces (overlays)... WHAT... A... BITCH!!!

broke a damn needle in the process, speed is 1-2 mph off, but whatever haha Looks pretty good!

I tried that way too.. I'm looking at making something that uses the 3 bolt patter that holds the wiper swivel or whatever under the cowl as a complete bolt on or the other way I mentioned that's half weld but hidden them bolt on.

Edit. Plus with the way you drew it you would have to bend the metal to the rounded contour of the hood in order for it to work right. But also I ran into the issue of 3/16 not fitting between the fender and hood which isn't that big of a deal to just grind a little off but that's a lot of excess work to be done for that plus I would want the mount pointed in over the hood rather than facing out so to do that it would have to use the upper hinge bolts in which would mean it has to be contoured around the hood for the hood to close properly

 

I like the idea of using the 3-bolt patter under the cowl and just trimming enough room for it to stick up through. If you can make this thing completely bolt on with no welding you'll get so many sales!

Your truck will be the test lol we can mock it up at the house. And only thing with that is having to cut plate round and the amount of material used for the price of what they'd be worth plus time

Haha I'd buy one as soon as they were made! Price would have to be pretty high to stop me from getting one!

 

Another thing too, I can make the mount not quite as tall. I made it just match up to a light tab I already had cut to size about an inch wide so the top of the curved piece is that wide while the base is probably 2" or so.

 

Personally I'd like it as low-pro as possible...

 

What would you or anyone else who wants to comment spend on a completely bolt on version versus the half weld half bolt on... Or my version now that's just weld on.. FF sells his for the 2nd gen guys for $50 a pair iirc. Not sure of that's shipped or not too but $50-$55 but I'd have a lot more material in mine as well than what his is. Just throw out some numbers and I'll see what I can do to meet he price ranges

Yea mine I thought at first would be too high but I've gotten use to it and they seem to trow further sitting a little higher up as opposed to havin them bolted straight to the cowl like I had them before. I think my mounts sit about 1 3/4 - 2 1/2 or so above the hood.. Haven't actually measured. Just a guesstimate

 

Well if it could be lined up with the cab pillar that would be cool. But if you can't really see them through the windshield then the height they're at now wouldn't be a big deal.

 

I mean you see them but it doesn't bother me one bit, nor does the glare on the hood bother me any. Alex will vouche for it. Might seem a little goofy looking but once it's on there and you know your the only one around its about like how I've been treated abt it. Haven't had not one single bad comment on anything OTHER than the fact that it's welded on.. Only negative. I don't see the issue but I do at the same time. I beat the hell out of my truck and wheel it like its built for so a little welding to it here and there doesn't bother me.. I've gotten past the stage of being scared after my first huge door dent and the huge need scrap/dent that alex can tell you all about. He was riding shotgun for that one. But if done properly it will look like it's ment to be there.. That was my thing when I started was wanting it to look like it could have been a factory option if that makes sense.

 

Haha yeah, exactly. My truck and it's paint are still in very good condition! Only dents are a couple small ones in the tailgate, hence why I don't want to weld anything unless it's rock sliders or something haha
