Painted the wheels this weekend. Actually striped/ sanded them down to the bare metal then primed, gloss black, and clear. Came out decent...

Anyone know what this push button is for? It's under the hood, to the right of the brake boosterhytyhapa_fa872002e8125103439404bacd9acf37731c534a.jpg9u3a6usa_a8a66995f9d23e603a4d90d646c97733ddf0f00d.jpg

Do you have a remote starter? They install switches like that so it disables the remote starter when the hood is open. It's a safety mechanism so you don't start your engine while you've got your hands digging around in the engine bay.

source: I have one and it snaps off every time I close the hood.

Could also be the hood sensor for an alarm if one is installed.

I don't have a remote start. To my knowledge I have the keyless entry and same alarm setup most tacomas have. Although I do have a wire that runs into the cab near the alarm system. The wire isn't plugged into anything but it is tagged "to be used with remote start". It seems that this wire runs through the fire wall. But I haven't traced it all the way to its end point yet. I bet it runs to the push button under the hood. Did toyota put that button in or is it aftermarket or dealer installed?

Noticed a leak today.. thought that it was "misting" out of the power steering reservoir..

But looking further it looks like it may be a valve cover gasket..

I was checking fluids then slammed my hood shut, but I accidentally let the hood fall from to high up. When it shut it made one of my Halos on the projector fall off! Now I gotta do the whole oven, open lense, back in oven, and seal again. Causing unnecessary work for my self is not my favorite but I do enjoy working on my truck, atleast I have something to do tonight.

What do I think? I think that looks exactly like my engine  Mine doesn't look like a fresh leak though, more like something left over from a leak that had been fixed.

Def looks like the valve cover gaskets are leaking but it's hard to tell how bad.
Can you smell burning oil? It will leak down on the manifold and burn off. Mine was pretty bad, did it about 6 months ago.

Clean it up real good around them with a degreaser then check back on it to see how heavy the leak is. If it isn't bad I'd just leave it and check oil in between changes.

First thing i would do is clean the area then check the valve cover bolts and make sure there snug. They are prone to loosen over time. And then watch it for a day or two.

Didn't think about them loosening up.. If you tighten them BE CAREFUL not to over-torque. It's very common to crack the valve covers. I can't remember the torque number off the top of my head but I'm sure you can look it up
