Wowsers! lol What tires are you getting?

 

Our trucks are best for off road with a 6 ply (C rated) or an 8 ply (D rated).

In my opinion, on E rated (10 ply) tires, the sidewall is too stiff for the weight of the truck. Makes for a harsher ride. Also, the higher the rating, the more they weigh and that means loss of fuel mileage.

 

Hmmm.... I'd recomend the hankooks..... They're a better company in general, but I haven;t done a ton of research on it. just from what i've seen at work...

also, i have noticed that the hankooks seem to wear a lot better than falkens. don't know why...

I would not recomend the 4-plys, regardless of brand. The sidewalls are too weak, not durable enough for off roading. Find a C or D rated tire.

Getting a 4 ply for a truck that will get off roaded is a big mistake.

Discount tire stores (not online) have access to any tire made. Do your research, find the brand and model tire you need because its right for your circumstances. Find a good online price from any source for the tire you need. Take that to your local Discount tire store and ask them to price match. They will.

Dude, not to sound like a dick, but you're talking about a $44 dollar (total) difference to get the Duratracs. Plus you are getting a far superior tire. Just save your pennies for an extra month and you'll have the extra cash.

I, along with dozens of other members here, can attest to the quality of the Duratracs. I promise you wont be disappointed.

 

One of the great benifits I've found in purchasing from Discount tire (not online) is they will rebalance and rotate at no charge because I purchased from them. I've done it 4 times so far on this set and about to do it again.

 

I do not like Goodyear truck tires. Way to loud IMO. Id take Cooper STTs over those, my dad just got some. They are pretty nice. I had Sts on my old yota truck too

Love BFGs tho and don't think ill even buy a different tire brand again.

 

Yes, however, you need to factor in the shipping cost on tire rack. Discount will not match the per tire price from tirerack.com, you need to add all four tires to your cart and see the total + shipping.

Just an FYI.

I'm gonna have to disagree with this statement. My buddy has STT's on his FJ and they are waaaay louder than my Duratracs. That being said the STTs definitely look way cooler.

Do not confuse Discount tire online with the Discount Tire stores.

The local store will price match online prices.

Maybe, maybe not. My Discount tire store matched Tire Rack's online listed price. They did however, charge me sales tax which tire rack would not have done. And I also bought my procomp wheels thru them at the same time.

 

Hmmm...seems like that would just be a wash since tire rack's shipping cost seems to be roughly 10%.

Regardless, I just take the shipped price off DTD into a physical Discount Tire and they give me that price OTD. Discount "usually" has the best prices.

Yeah, Discount Tire can order anything you want. They can also beat any price you find elsewhere (such as tireclawler, tirerack, or other online stores). Also, Tire Rack lists 265/75/16 Duratracs 6 ply at $176, where tire crawler has them at $172.02..... not a huge difference, but still... FWIW I have found many of the best prices for tires at TireCrawler.com

So yes, Disocunt Tire will always have the lowest prices, and they'll special order just about anything to get your business. And not much beats their service.

 

Oooorrrrr....... you can do what I will will be doing from now on and just by re-treaded tires from treadwright.com. For your tires size, you can get (essentially) a BFG AT tread design for $100 a tire.

They also offer what they call "Kedge Grip" (it's optional). Basically, they add walnut shells and bits of glass into the rubber that leave tiny pits in the tire as it wears down. This provides better traction, (especially in the snow) buuuut they will wear a little faster that way...

They also have a limited warrenty.
