Hmm, you could take the lens off and paint all of the chrome black.... I might have to get these some day...

 

Duratrac is a hybrid like MT/AT..KM2 is straight up MT.

 

And suck in snow. If they made a Duratrac in 255/85, that would have easily been my choice.

Yup, KM2's and ice is a no go from my experience. But I also don't have mine siped and everybody says it makes a drastic improvement. Unfortunately nobody sipes tires here...

 

Yeah I was just gonna say you could get them siped.

But then again, I dobut siped KM2s would be as good in the snow as the BFG ATs, and I didn't even like those in the snow. Of course I'm a little biased when it comes to driving in the snow....

 

I meant to say ice or hard packed snow.

They do okay in regular snow. Better than AT's probably. But it doesn't take anything for me to get the rear end loose. Just a slight incline and I can't go anywhere until I put it in 4hi.

 

yea KM2s do suck in the ice and hard snow...i agree indefinitely with that.

the Duratracs are probably the ebst snow tire your can get.

the MTRs do good though as well in snow and great in everything really.

 

Very true and thanks for clarifying. My KM2s are amazing in deep, loose snow, but on icy and snow packed roads they are worthless. I could be going just a couple miles an hour, lock the wheels, and slide all the way down my driveway

 

Haha exactly! One of my only complaints about this tire, although I haven't had much experience in snow with any other tire. Otherwise I love it. Might try MTR's next go around though just to see....

 

I got rid of my KM2s because they don't handle NM roads very well when wet. The ATs are better but I'm pretty sure I'm going Duratracs next.

Speaking of handling better, put the BAMF BPV relocation kit on last night. Braking is so much better feeling now. Can't believe I drove around without one for so long.

Now that the rain has cleared off, Im going to go change my oil and take some pictures.

 

Yeah, that'll be practically any MT though. All 3 MT's I've ever had were squirrely on wet Texas roads.

Any 4x4 that I don't wheel will get the Duratrac treatment until something new comes out.

I miss my braking before the new rear suspension. I've got my current BPV bracket maxed out. Just ordered the longer one a couple days ago haha

 

IIRC you don't like the Duratrac's because of their sidewalls, right?

Before I switched over the BFG ATs in '94 I had Goodyear Wranglers on my Bronco... and tore an 8" long hole in one of the sidewalls when wheeling.

Any one have experience with the Goodyear Adventure ATs with Kevlar?

What hpv do you reccomend? Im not sure what it does but all of TW talks about it :sly:

 

Not yet, but I can tell my truck sits higher. Can feel it when your sitting in it, and look at it from outside. I'll measure it tomorrow when I get home from work. Don't have a tape on me. Going to wait till I have 500 miles on the motor before I get in some mud to see how they do.

 

yea they have pretty crappy side walls.

 

I've seen one tear in person in a place that it really shouldn't have....

 

How much do you wanna bet I end up with BFG ATs again?
