I just thought for the extra peace of mind, a tack weld would guarantee it doesn't come off. Definitely not critical.

    ...too much shit to list.
If you broke a u-bolt (even wheeling)...it's time to replace them. Simple as that.
And from the looks of it, those have seen better days.

I read the little paper in the box and it basically said to drive easy for the first 200 city miles and to stop from 60-20mph 5 times during those miles. Sound right?

I bought mine from AutoAnything. They have a discount code posted on their site for 15% off. My total came to ~$54 and free shipping.

Even if the u-bolt was broke before the nut? I mean the u-bolt is still a solid u-bolt right?

    don't cut it flush.

You want to leave a bit of thread left, especially on new ones. U bolts will strech and you don't want the nut just falling off when it loosens up before you get to re tightening it.

that said...you should trim them up a bit but id leave 1/2'' of thread. should be under the shield still.

if your okay with running a compromised bolt that holds the axle to the truck..sure..

    i wouldn't..

I hear you. I just guess I can't see how it's compromised. Are you basically saying the hit it took to sheer whatever was hanging below the nut possibly compromised the strength of whatever is above the nut?

something torqued to 90 lb ft that took a big enough hit to bend it, not sure I would consider it uncompromised (even if it is bent below the nut).

^^What he said. I hit a u bolt pretty hard once and it bent some (did not break). I would think if yours broke, then that means the u bolts are in pretty bad shape.

Ive been examining my afr wideband the past few days since its been installed and have a few questions. I know the vehicle is suppose to run rich upon a cold start which it does. However, I noticed on a hot start it runs pretty lean (15:1-15.5:1) at idle for about a minute or so then goes back to 14.7:1 like it should. Is this normal?

The break that you sustained most likely didn't compromise the bolt, it broke in a way that wont hurt the truck. Its the fact that it did break, the bolts have seen better days and have the potential to break again but in a much worse spot.

you too! looked like the drive home was gonna be a tough one for you haha:drunk:.. hmu and we'll plan something up this way !

and ps.. welcome to the 'high clearance' club!! lol

These ubolts are only 8 months old, replaced when I put in the aal last August. Maybe there was a stress fracture beforehand, or the hit was really that hard, :notsure:..

maybe I should.. requires new shocks??

Just requires new shock mounts. Real easy to do if you have a welder and the mounts are pretty cheap if you go through Barnes 4wd or Ruffstuff Specialities. I'd get the u bolt kits they sell, really beefy and Barnes 4wd ships fast.

You can get more droop out of it too depending where you put the mounts.

New gas tank skid prototype. It's a beast.

Forgot a pic. It can also bolt over the factory tank skid. It mounts to the cross member in front of the tank, not the factory points.
