What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

If the voltage is good it is probably okay. I'd get it tested or if you have a tester just to check charge.

But with 260k on the starter Id bet it's just the contacts that need refreshed. Wish I'd have known about that when I thought my OEM one went out

 

New contacts and plunger will be waiting me for when I get home. Amazon Prime FTW! The joy will be being overly tired from working two jobs today and then trying to get the truck up the driveway into the garage so I can then pull the damn starter out.. I would love 5 mins in a room with the guy that thought THAT was a good location to put the starter. I have pulled it to get it tested before, if you can turn it exactly the right way and slide it at the right angle... it will come out, if not you will have bloody knuckles and your starter will be in engine compartment jail.

It was sad using my wife's Flex to push the truck out of the street at 0500. Hopefully my truck will be ready to play nice and start, then I can turn her around and get into the garage easily. If not, that may be a bigger PITA than getting the starter out.

 

Took me 3 days, a welder, a 24" extension, 1 flex joint, and a dremel to remove mine Lol recently did it again in about 9 minutes no problems the second time around. Id recommend removing the CV axle to drop it out without too much work

 

Thats why I had mine towed to the stealership to replace mine. I wasn't about to fuck with that noise.

 

It's cake now with new bolts and some anti seize

 

Damn, really? i just had to bend some of the steering rack tubes slightly to get mine out..

 

Bolt was stripped prior to, and welding a nut in didn't work and I skipped a day to relieve stress haha

@Strokethrush, I agree. I dont think that that mod will hurt a thing. There are no testimonies that I have read proving otherwise. That is a very popular mod for early Pickups (pre-tacomas). It is actually included in a kit on WABFAB.com and other pre-tacoma sites. It is safer than an AAL (for your leafs) but not as good as new packs. It also allows highter towing and lift. I actually plan to do the mod myself but am waiting until I get a few things taken care of first. What is your spring rate, diameter and length? (I won't be criticizing you, and am suprised that so many did as I have a lot of respect for some of these members)

lol welcome to Tacomaworld man. And its no sweat, some people like the mod some don't, no problem. And for my job I haul alot of boat motors back there so I like the ZUK mod for that as well, plus my boat trailer made the truck sag prior to this. But you are right, it is more of a "Old school" Toyota trick and much less popular with our trucks. Hey there was a time when people would have reacted the same way if someone said removing your sway bar was a good thing!

Thanks for the welcome bud. You are right lol every mod is "taboo" at first. I have not seen the mod go wrong (documented) so far though. What springs did you put in? All of the threads seem to end in arguments before the OPs can specify.


On a different note, can someone tell the new member how to quote multiple posts?

 

I think with the full ring halos, you will not be able to see that the demon eyes are a seperate mod. People outside of the forum will assume that its just refered light from the halo. You are doing amber in both correct?
