If you're on a tactile surface that's super steep where you don't need 4wd but need the torque of low range. The tactile surface gives plenty of traction but can cause drive train binding.

Exactly, I use 2-low quite often.

However, I don't need a twin stick to do this. With manual hubs and TC, I just stop, and put the TC lever into 4-low.

It's getting close to winter so I need to get my truck ready for snow. The boot on my driver side tie rod end was torn right open and my wheels didn't want to recover on rutty roads so I put a new one in.

That is the old tie rod, I don't have a picture of the new one but she drives great. I can drive with much more confidence.

New front tires in the next few days.

I also just brought new caliper and rotors that I'm going to install on my days off. I am really looking forward to it :D

All I can say is that I've been out wheeling, on terrain requiring low gearing, had to make a tight turn, could feel the drivetrain binding up and would have liked a 2Lo option. Slush box nor crawl box, I have not.

Would you drive all day on dry pavement in 4wd? A place like HITRT has miles and miles of 100% slickrock, inducing 20x more drive line bind than any street travel. A 20 min, or less, mod saves this and again it's a really common practice.

Drive line bind on HITRT killed this half track . Check out the tracks, they are completely worn away and the rear drive shaft fell out somewhere along the trail.;)

Fortunately for the driver it had a disk e-brake.

Tranny fluid swap and transfer case fluid swap, used Redline MT 75-90 in them both and it is noticeably smoother when shifting, especially in the T case.
