For prepring metal that has been previously painted i would invest in a wire wheel and an angle grinder to clean it off completely. Hand sanding is really only good if you want to add a little scuff for paint to stick.

I use brake cleaner on unpainted steel to clean off all the grease etc that is on them. Any degreaser will probably work but I usually have brake cleaner on hand and it takes care of it well. If you don't get the steel clean you'll get fisheyes and orange peel in the paint from the oil/grease etc that is on it.

Nothing. I'm still trying to find my legs after going to the GA/LSU game Saturday. Night of debauchery and plain craziness. Just glad I didn't wake up with a face tattoo.

Accidentally used the e-brake when I parked for a few hours and all the built up slush on the undercarriage froze it in place

I got it to release mostly but I still need to try taking a hammer to the drums or something.

Got my devil horns installed..well sort f:/ fit wasn't perfect but I'm pretty sure it'll hold with two of the screws in place. I broke all the clips on my turn signals so I ordered some clear corners too

I did that the other day for the first time since I bought the truck. I was on a very steep driveway and I would not roll backwards at all. Smacking the drums is the fix for that? I just drove down my street slowly until it let up...hopefully I didn't burn it up. I'm afraid to test it out again lol.
