shit, that's right. I've been sitting on 4.56 for so long forgot it went the other way for stock gearing.

Been havin a little trouble that's kinda got me worried. When I go to put my truck in gear sometimes it's really hard too do but sometimes it goes in smooth and then when I go to shift I push the clutch in and it grinds some but just a little bit only way you would know it is by having your hand on the shifter. It dosent grind everytime but mainly does it going into 5th.

I just sold my 1st gen with a 5VZ, and bought a 4th gen 4runner with the 2UZ.. There is really no comparison. I havent ever driven a S/C 5VZ, but I cant imagine it outpowering the 2UZ in a 1st gen taco. My 4runner is on another level compared my old 1st gen. I had 4:10s in the tacoma have 3:73 gears in the T4R... Both were/are stock with 265's

    How is the tire quality!?
I am about to pull the trigger on these, and am a little nervous because I've never used Maxxis tires
    Same size too.

Sorry to get so anxious, but you are the first person on a toyota forum that I have seen run them lol

The 2uz puts out 315 ft lbs of torque. It's a pretty potent smaller v8. Add boost and who knows. A supercharged 5vz puts out about 275 ft lbs I believe, if it's tuned well. I don't really care about horsepower, torque gets the girls.

How tall do they actually measure? I know some differ from company spec.

Were they the original brakes? How many miles did you get out of them?

The rule of thumb is fewer teeth to compensate for tire size increases and more teeth to compensate for a regear to a higher ratio (i.e. 4.10s to 4.88s).

Do a 3uz. Smaller package so easier to fit. Can get a conversion to run your tranny. It's a 4.3l and there is boost support. Lighter too.

Because there's no oil in the front diff and I need to get it to a place where I can work on it. Specifically, my mom's boyfriend's house where he has a shop

2uz might be cheaper from a toyota though. I dont think they made the 3uz for anything other than lexus. Although it would be a better fit.

But I thought those have electronic throttles. I have a throttle cable, so after reading some swap threads the guys say to buy a 2uz from a 00-04 Tundra. They used the throttle cable. The 3uz is about $500 more on average.

Leave the hubs unlocked and in 2wd and nothing in the front diff will be turning.

I bought the truck with 110,xxx on it. It now has 230,xxx. I never changed them during that time and do not know if they were changed before that. However, the surface area of the pad on the old shoes was larger than the new shoes from O'Reilly's. So I'm assuming they are original but cannot confirm. Drums looked fine.
