    Got done replacing my 3rd with 4:88s. Truck wouldnt start and when jumped off it died right after. Thought it was the battery so went to get another one. Worked fine all week and now it died again. Searching for a new alternator...

    and is a fkn pain... but maybe now that I only hand-tightened the filter hopefully my troubles are over ... as far as the oil filter go at least :p

    after several oil changes I've gotten pretty good at it. The key is removing all the skids and going from underneath. The wheel well trick doesn't work as well for me.

    Mine was easy to get at through the wheel well till I added LCE headers, they take up a lot more room than the stock manifold and down pipe...now its a PITA to change the filter.

    You've got the 2.7 though. The V6 is a bit different.

    I just open the rubber splash panel, reach my hand in there with a small oil filter wrench if I can't already pop loose with my hands from above, and she's off. Like it was mentioned already once you do it a couple of times, it's really a piece of cake afterwards. I always try and wad up a ton of papertowels below the filter beforehand though, that's the only part that I don't like about the job.

    I doubt it but it will probably need more oil than factory specs. I just go thru the bottom and use a 2L drink bottle cut in half to catch oil the drips out the bottom. The first time I changed my oil the filter slipped out my hand and spilled HOT oil all over me, I had just got done riding about 50 miles.

    Read previous post. 2L coke bottle works wonders for that just hold it under the filter with one hand and twist off with the other. :thumbsup:

    well today I took off my grill and painted it black along with the front bumper... I went with a semi gloss black. I will be doing the rear bumper tomorrow. Now I just gotta get the patience to de-badge it.. the stupid front plate mount is gonna be painted black tomorrow too since we have to run front plates here in colorado.. its a crappy cell pic but its all i got for now..

    I do this too. Gotta go under there anyway, may as well take off the skids rather than wrestle in through the wheel well. Very easy to reach the filter from underneath, and to stick in/take out some sort of container to catch the oil/filter. I think it is easier to prevent a mess this way, too.

    I know, but it was cold and windy today lol, plus Im being lazy!!

    I really wanna debadge it and then take the emblems to they just say Taco and paint them black and put them back on the truck..

    I ended up going in from both directions, one arm from underneath and one through the wheel well. You know when ur in 30* cold for an hour wrestling with a stupid filter, the inside of your wheel/tire makes a fantastic headrest :p

    I did a front end alignment today, which is a lot of fun now that the Toyota dealer undercoated the cam bolts.

    The alignment was a hoot. If you haven't pissed with yours, don't. Adjust camber, then caster, then toe. Easy enough, right?

    Loosen up the bolts, and tweak it a bit. Ok, caster is good, let's do camber. Adjust camber, bring it in, and caster is out again. Terrific. Tweak caster a bit more, and toe is out. Damnit. Tug a bit on camber, and it's good to go, but caster is out. Squeak caster in and repeat on the other side.

    Then do caster sweep, only to find that your caster is still out. Tweak that a bit, and camber is out. Wrestle with camber, and caster is out. Adjust caster back in and check toe. Toe is out. Adjust toe, throwing out caster and camber.

    SOAB!!! Commence wrench throwing.
