Damn dude, 5 hours? really? What kind of snags did you run into?
I literally just did this tonight and It just took me 45 minutes from start to finish to remove re-build and re-install my starter. Although i have an el stupido body lift and i think that was my saving grace with getting the starter out as it came out right above the upper control arm and under the body.

seems to of fixed my starting issues for the time being.

Well the 5 hours was the total time I spend fucking around with truck related things (all my projects I do on my trucks have taken quite a bit longer than people on tw report them to take). Pulling the thing out the first time was such a hassle. Getting back for the back bolt was the hardest part...there just wasn't enough room to fit my arm in there. Going back in went a lot smoother. I wish a rebuild was all it needed, agleast id know what's wrong with it. But the starter passed again and again so I'm still llookin.

in the 3000gt world we have something called the "click-click-start fix" for what sounds to be the exact same issue. If it is, the problem is the starter is not getting enough voltage to perform properly (in the 3000gt its due to super-tiny mitsu wiring). Maybe something to look into? just a thought...

I don't know if this is the case with your starter or not, but I had a starter tested and they said it was fine but I replaced it anyways and it fixed my starting issue.

for the upper back bolt i used a swiveling extension they're life savers in the garage. Although you have an auto so, completely different acess points.

Theres only a few other things involved with the starting system, relay, batery wires and ignition key lock cylinder.

Start with some fresh new and larger battery/ground wires then do relay, then go to a rebuild kit for the starter. Got mine delivered for $20. Although i probably could have gotten away with just sanding down my old contacts.
I'm fairly certain my starter would have tested fine as my starting issue was intermittent. The plunger contact was filthy and i think it wouldn't always get the current through to push in the flywheel gear spinner.

My new frame has ~400 miles on it and I'm very happy with how the work looks and the fact that it only took 4 days. They replaced both lca's and some other random shit...for free :D call up Toyota and see how much those cost a piece :)

Had a red led out in the gauge cluster, and my ac bulb has been out...so replaced everything with green led's. Still awaiting the 4runner control panel though, the ac panel isn't bright right now b/c of the stupid orange film.

I say tub for 35s...... be a waste of time to do it for 33's IMHO.... :notsure: What backspacing are the crager soft 8's?

I 've never heard of the pre-made firewall tubs... and, personally, will definately NOT be using them... They look way to big for what you'd actually cut out... You'll want a more triangular shaped piece....
