How did you go about mounting it? L-brackets off of the frame horns?

Thanks, yea I wish! Just put this reman 3rz in like a year ago or less! (Autozone reman)
Wow I got so lucky the dude who towed me has a lifted jeep rubicon so he had 4x4 sympathy.. Almost turned my truck down cause I was lifted/have 33's... Woulda been more than triple what he charged me (110$)..

He scanned my CEL and it turned out as a misfire in 3&4.. He told me I should check for a crushed spark plug, then if that's not it check that all the plugs/wires are getting spark. He thinks it's my 3&4 coil pack (replaced with non OEM about 2ish years ago)

Did military style battery terminals. Replaced all stock fittings with heavy duty rings, soldering into place. Im glad i invested in a good butane iron. I got a Portasol Superpro 125, made quick work of it.

Tip: be sure to solder after making your bends in wire.

Got some real 4 gauge copper cable from Apex electrical supply. No weak shit CCA stuff here. Also running two 16 gauge wires for future console switches.

They are in order (1,2,3,4) the misfire was in 3&4, not sure if it matters but there is oil on the washers of 3&4(more on 3). The bottom ring on 4 Isnt black like it hasn't been firing this whole time or something.. I could have sworn i checked the oil a few times and it was always at full, now it's about half way to low.

These are the first plugs that this engine has seen about five oil changes, roughly a year/15k

    Help would be helpful.

    Edit: here's some info
-new plug wires (within a year NGK)
-coil packs are 2ish years old non OEM (replaced both from a misfire reading on 3&4 in previous engine)
-fuel pump has 182k on it as was suggested before..
-I know my vapor canister is bad from testing it..
-there was lots of hesitation on the misfire.

(From what I see on the spark plug chart it almost looks like high speed glazing/got too hot? It was hot out and I was accelerating up a hill when it happened I think)

Check compression to make sure the engine is mechanically sound.. No point on checking for fuel or spark issues if it doesn't hold compression.

Hope not but there is probably a strong possibility something went really wrong.. I wonder if the warranty on the engine will cover this... It's probably going to suck trying to convince autozone to give me a new engine.. (Hasn't even been a full year, supposed to have 3 year warranty)

Will be doing this after work today. Thanks.

Was it a short block or long block? did you do a core exchange?

I had a 22re rebuilt on my old 89, was a short block. it never ran right. sold the truck. I hope they used all OEM spec stuff with the rebuild.

    Short Block Engine
Short block engines are not complete but they do come with a cam pistons, connecting rods and a crank.. They do require the installation of additional internal parts which include but are not limited to: an oil pump, cylinder heads and gaskets. Some short blocks are made available with camshafts and timing parts.

    Long Block Engine
This type of engine is almost complete and comes with the head which is bolted to the short block. The long block engine will need to have some additional external parts installed. These parts include but are not limited to: valve covers, manifolds for the exhaust and intake, a timing covers and an oil pan.

Did the mudflap delete today. Looks better. Have had the German Shepherd truck-bed guard sitting around for about six years now. Just haven't gotten to installing it yet...

Yea me too bro.. honestly if it can't be fixed without changing the engine I dunno what I'm gunna do, my parents said I could park it at their place and do an engine swap but I know it's gunna take me a long time to do by myself.. Plus I'd have to wait for them to test the engine to see if it was even covered by warranty (I'd be super f'd if they didn't warranty it..)
I'm almost thinking time for A: new 1st gen Tacoma + swap parts/part out old tacoma or B: commuter car and fix the truck slowly over time..

It probably wasn't a knock more like a misfire.... so crank shaft speed as all over spiratic. U get what u pay for with fuel pumps. Also I'd replace the fuel filter as well

I'd vote no for the part out! Too much time and money put into that truck. Engine replacement or swap would be easier

Yea I totally feel that.. However if I ended up with a 3.4 4x4 I wouldn't mind redoing most/some of the work I've done.. There are defintely a lot things I regret doing to this current truck haha..

Lol at the cost of a 3.4 swap I think I'd go the route of just buying a 3.4 and swapping whatever parts into it. I was just looking at Craigslist and found some 3.4 4x4's for around 5/6k

Not sure exactly what the sound was, just know it was a really loud rattle whenever I stepped on the gas. Fuel filter was just replaced when reman 3rz was installed last September. i think step 1 is to do compression test.

Should I just top the oil off to do the compression test or should I change out the old oil? I was watching a YouTube video on how to do it and the guy said your oil should be full.

No answer in carrier bearing thread so il post here... "changed mine just the other day and after I got new one put on and i was throwing old one out i found a small washer inside up against the inside race (hidden in the old grease). The driveshaft spins freely but i can hear it squeaking and it gets pretty hot. What side does that little washer/shim go on?"
