Hmm maybe I'll just try to get the truck to my parents driveway and buy a commuter car in the mean time.. I just really don't like the idea of me replacing the engine by myself lol.

Check fuel pressure first man, you sound like ur jumping the gun. Crack the fuel line and have some one crank it. You'll know right away if there is 40 psi comin out

Looks normal for a intermittent misfire on 3&4. Soot covering from burned, not combusted HC. What your seeing is a symptom of what you already know.

Compression test is free though. My girlfriends dad has the setup, figure midswell check it. I'll check fuel pressure at same time, know of a good place to crack it open to check it?

If you lost fuel pressure you could also have a lean "knock". Pre ignition/detonation is a byproduct of lean combustion.

I'd go with what ^ crazy ^ said over an engine at this point. Fuel pressure test can be done at any of that high pressure fuel line fittings/banjo bolts.

Sweet yea I watched some fuel pressure testing videos on YouTube just now, I think I got it down..
Here is a sample of what the noise sounds like (same engine and noise is exactly the same/maybe my noise is a little more consistent..)

    That's the definition of fucked.
Having broke two rods...if that's what yours sounds like, bottom end is toast. May not be broke, but at least bent.

That is the sound of the piston hitting the cylinder head. It happens when your connecting rod bearing goes bad. If it made that noise then shut down........... bad times. A lean knock would sound close to the same but not as loud.

Yep that's 100% sure what it sounded like if not louder than the video.. :(

Well thanks guys for the confirmation of my situation..

    Now my options...

-take it to a shop and try to get autozone to honor their warranty (not sure if what I have is covered by warranty or not..)

-buy commuter car and park it in parents driveway and slowly do engine swap myself.. (Still not 100% sure if warranty is covered..)

-get a new to me Tacoma and swap parts/part out old Tacoma

    Last resort
    -complete part out

Damn, I wish I was having your engine problems. All I did was replace my TPS and now my engine runs great. Sad. I was looking for a reason to swap.

Good luck though! I would go totally blow it up just for fun.

Dibs on rear bumper. Jk i would throw a fit at autozone if they didn't warranty it. If it comes down to it buy a wrecked truck and a lot of beer, then invite anybody you know that will turn a wrench and make a frankentruck

haha hopefully that's how it is if I end up parting out..

Haha and I wish I was having your engine problems! (Doesn't sound too bad..)

    Thanks!

Haha you probably wouldn't want the rear bumper, would take some fabbing to get it to fit as a normal bumper (I cut the mounts up a little for my bed Bob..) Yea I'm gunna try my best to get them to warranty it :fingerscrossed:, that's definitely an option, might just buy somethin off Craigslist..
