What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Sounds like my typical Friday night when I was single for a couple of years.

Yeah, took about 4 hours with help. Just getting the brake lines off was probably the hardest part.

 

Thanks for the offer, but I might be good. I remembered I have a Haynes manual I got a long time ago that I've never used. I'll see if it has diagrams and go from there. I'll let you know if I do need the pics!

 

It came out of the switch its right next to.

 

Those aren't conversion lights..those are just regalr ol lights that I got from marlin crawler a while back

 

Which transmission? Most auto tannys had no gasket, only red permatex gasket sealant.

 

look like conversions to me... They dont use a bulb?

 

Hmm from marlin, they technically are conversions from sealed beam H6054 to changeable H4. Not retros though.

Edit: Just looked them up, no wonder they look like good quality stuff. They're Vision X brand. Those will most likely be my choice when my sealed beams burn out.

 

Yes it is the bulb that lights up only the A/C lettering, however it doesn't influence the color on that switch. It is a thin film of green or orange (depending on year) that cannot be removed without scraping the A/C lettering off (ask me how I know) that actually makes it colored. So unless you know a good translucent decal printer and have a super steady hand there isn't much that can be done to change the color. I tried to make mine light up white and ended up making a couple small scratch marks that now light up in the former black area surrounding the A/C lettering.

I see that. But is that the only light in the switch? If so, it would appear that there is a green film behind the "A/C" lettering and the indicator bar.

If you mean HID conversion then no they are not.

 

Got her all trimmed up for the bumper...washer tank removed and building new one atm

 

Thats just the bulb for the backlight. The green ON light cant be changed.

 

2" schedule 40 "monte-tank" done.

I like to take my time. So it took me a few hours including taking breaks and b/s ing. Watch out for the plastic wire harness cover. They usually crumble and break apart. Make sure no chunks fall into the valve train.
