Can somebody please provide a second opinion on this? I find it really hard to believe that putting RP in my differentials would make it "shift like crap"... unless you're referring to the manual tranny?

And I've used RP 530 as a motor oil in my Lexus for 5 years, it has been nothing short of amazing for me. I just bought a 2013 Tacoma and plan to switch her over to RP motor oil this weekend.

The only experience I have with Royal Purple was with my manual transmission. I went with it because of all the rave reviews but I immediately felt it was horrible, in my opinion. And removed it within 4 or 5 days.

Worst feeling shifting, horrible in the cold, etc.

I have no experience with RP in my differentials.

Thanks for the reply. I've read that Toyota manual transmissions require a certain amount of friction for proper shifting, so I already know that I shouldn't run RP for that (my truck is auto). But for the motor oil and gear boxes I have read so many good things about RP. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something here!

I have had it in all areas, engine, transmission 5 speed, front and rear diffs in the past because I believed the hype.

The next morning it was in the truck the shifting was all wrong and hard to move without lots of effort and additional crunch sounds.

I run as close to the stock rated stuff now and its the best long term for it I feel.

I run 75w-90 in the trans, transfer case, front diff and in the rear I use a 75w-140 all synthetic.

In the engine I use Rotella 5w-40 with a toyota filter changed every 7-8k

Thanks for clarifying your experience, it sounds like you put it in the manual tranny? If so then what you experienced with shifting is normal since RP is not recommended at all for Toyota transmissions.

The fact it is not recommended was never expressed by anyone, the RP I used was a 75w-90 synthetic so in reality it should have been the same as others.

I just changed my rear diff fluid yesterday. After 30k the used oil still looked good. I dont have the breather mod and have got my diff hot then submerged it in water. No water and it was clean. I used dyno juice 75-90 it was the valvoline with lsd additive. The bottle said it was okay for both.

Then I detailed my bitch. I have camo interiors...ooo aahhh.

And....because I am just feeling active...this is what I did for my CB.

Still going to install and wire the PA.

I ran the antenna wire under the floor then i to the rear driver storage cubby. I have the magnet base and run it out the back window. The ground wire is on a braket under the dash. Power splices from cig lighter.

I had to do some digging around, but I figured it out after reading Amazon reviews on the RP gear oil. Also, threads like this one help to point out that putting RP in a manual tranny is a bad idea because it is simply too slippery and does not provide enough friction for the tranny to operate as intended by Toyota.

Still can't find the solution to my problem yet. Went to my mechanic and told him about it and he couldn't figure it out. We checked everywhere underneath the truck. I noticed that that chirp is more of a weird squeak when I'm hitting a bump (axle flexing) & turning.

Bad alignment can cause the front tires to chirp in sharp turns. Mine did it before a recent alignment.

Hmm I guess that recent rescue the 2WD vehicle messed that up. It doesn't happen in sharp turns though sometimes slightly turning the wheel when I'm going 20 mph does the same thing.

How do the ubolts and centering pins look? Also, I assume you figured this out but never use a chain to pull someone out. A good, stretchy snatch strap will not only work better, but also avoid damage to the vehicles.
