Good luck man! If anything, the knob without the switch, is still sweet. And i bet you could sell them as is.

I could but I bet Low Range OffRoad wouldn't be too happy with me considering it's their product. But a simple service to modify them into functioning switches would be sweet.

Filled up and got 19 mpg. So I get 19 mpg going 75 mph and get 25 mpg going 65 mph. If I have a 18 gallon tank and I can get 6 mpgs better going 65, I can go 108 more miles going 65 mph than 75 mph. However, every 100 miles at 65 mph takes 92 minutes but at 75 it takes 80 minutes. So I lose 12 minutes per 100 miles. All given steady and level ground. Not a bad trade off.

Like a word problem in math class! Your lucky.. I average 13-15 mpg and get about 200-215 miles per tank. Fill up once a week with a 35 mile commute to work and back plus all the extra running around that I have to do. And most of my commute is highway miles doing 65 mph.

Punk kid? When's the SAS happening old man? :D Between your wheel bearings and UCA issues, I'm guessing you just have a sour taste in your mouth.

I honestly don't think I'm over 3" of lift. I never did put on those top plate spacers you gave me and I have quite a bit of weight. That really doesn't matter though.

FWIW, I have never tried a diff drop kit, nor am I planning on it. My issue is not if they relive CV angles or not. Regardless of if it helps or doesn't, I really don't see tearing, or replacing CV boots as a huge hassle. The problem that is trying to be fixed is really not that much of a problem to begin with. So the negatives far outweigh the positives to justify even trying it. And if you're going to complain about CV boot issues, you shouldn't be lifting your truck in the first place.

So yes, don't take my opinion as gospel, nor do I intend it to be taken as such.

I also tend to destroy CVs from wheeling. They start popping and clicking before I have issues with the boots. Both of them did this after 9 days straight in Moab this past Spring. When I redo the suspension here soon, I'll probably end up with less lift, and new CVs, so we'll see how long they last. It's just how it goes. I use my truck and accept what comes with that. Even your SAS wouldn't be impervious to issues unless you only drive it to the mall.

Im with young brett in terms of diff drops. Not worth it. Its MAYBE 1/4'' drop. All they do is rotate the diff.

fwiw, the drop kit or not, the boots are gonna rub period. If you pull off the curb of your driveway, they rubbed. If you do a U-turn, they rubbed. Speed bumps, spring thaw roads, washboards, rub, rub, rub.
So with that being said, I'll concede they do the most good parked in the driveway.

As far as sas, far superior to ifs, mallcrawler or not. I went years of hard wheeling with 37's and a Detroit front end Dana44 and the only repairs were the occasional stub shaft from an overzealous right foot.
Never replaced ball joints or wheel bearings, didn't have upper and lower failure points either, Alignment was always correct.
    :p

If Toyota had offered the solid axle in the Tacoma, I doubt people would be pulling it out. ;)

Pretty sure it depends on application. I'm sure with unlimited amount of money it doesn't but yeah.

Not saying that a diff drop is for everybody, but it did reduce the vibes I was getting when in 4wd after I first lifted the truck. Now I could probably remove them and be fine since the springs have settled and I have more weight up front. Seems like it only reduces vibes for us guys with ADD diffs though.

I do a 450 mile roundtrip once a month and have been going 65 for the past 6 months and forgot what my mpg would be at 75 so thought I would try it this last time. My DD is my motorcycle, so I can get some good mpgs from my truck just from doing that trip on the highway. Mine is mostly stock prerunner 'cept for a 3 inch leveling kit, so I can't compare to most of you with 4x4 and armor
