    Ok kids, I was just told I need to compress my springs in my King shocks to adjust the ride height with a spanner, is this true?

    Here ya go. Sorry for the crappy quality, it was starting to rain pretty good and phone was getting wet. Just have a couple zipties going vertical and horizontal, tied off to the vertical support right under the hood latch mechanism. Ain't pretty but it's temporary, pretty well shielded from debris and easy to plug in to.

    Caster shouldn't create an issue with tire wear, but it will negatively effect steering/handling of the vehicle.

    Shouldn't be necessary as long as you jack the truck up and get the weight off the springs. It'll take some muscle, but definitely doable. Some WD in the threads doesn't hurt, either.

    Shocks aren't on the truck... Maybe I'll order up a wrench and do it that way.

    That'll make it a bit trickier, being that the top and bottom aren't being held steady and kept from spinning. Never done it when they're off the truck... may want to use a compressor in this case, or just put them in the truck first.

    Well I finally got it off, used a ball joint press from autozone. At first we popped the actual ball out of the ball joint but then we got the rest of it out. Wasn't too painful used an impact on the bolt. Now time for the other side lol image.jpg

    Good tool to have for the coilovers, anyways. Makes adjusting them down the road easier, rather than trying to make/find a tool that fits in the holes without tearing them up.

    Ask me how I know...

    i found it was very helpful to crank/torque up the ball joint press, then whack the side of the spindle with a mini-sledge a couple times, then tighten again, whack and repeat. the vibration/jarring of the hammer against the spindle while the clamp is pressing out the ball joint out made the job a lot easier and faster

    That's the easiest way for me. On the ADS each full turn is about 1/4" of lift.

    If you unload the shock to pull the tire then there's no way to know the effect of adjustment until you put it on the road anyway.

    Because I want to put them on and not have my nose in the air. Figured It was easier.


    Anyway, spanners been ordered, shocks will go on Thursday night and hopefully alignment Friday.
