Tacoma with some stuff melted to it
I used the piece of steel with holes, took me about 3 or 4 hours total from start to finish

I saw a similar web video that you weld nuts onto it but the metal an nuts broke off as well as the drill bits. Mine may have been over torqued... with all the complications I ran into it took about 6-7 hours

think i could make a rtt trailer out of this?

not looking to do anything crazy, but do want to take it over discovery routes etc. not a big crawler but will crawl to get somewhere

owner doesn't know anything about the axle, but it seems even when people buy m416's they end up swapping the axle anyhow?

Looks pretty sturdy to me. Why not? You will most likely be changing just about everything during the build.

thats what i am noticing as i browse builds, seems everyone changes just about everything under the frame, so why spend so much 800-1000 on a m416 if the only thing you are keeping really is the tub & frame?

I build lots of trailers so those tag along trailer builds really interest me. You are correct in starting with something cheap. Just the tires wheels and steel will cost you near $1000.

    I like to build these:

Now that I'm looking at it and listening to this, I'm thinking maybe a length of 2x4 with the holes drilled in it instead of the steel stock. Dunno. I'll give it a try and see.

What about removing the hydraulic tensioner? Did anyone have that special tool for that or did you all just wing it?

I just cut the belt and replaced the tensioner.
For tightening the crank bolt I just used a ratchet strap to choke the pulley and tightened against that.

Replaced my ac compressor bearing a few days ago. For the 2.7 compressor the bearing number is a Nachi 30bgs10dst. NAPA couldn't find this in there system but took measuments and eventually got the right one in (yet to have the right part ordered the first time). If they would have messed up again I was going to order from this site that is half the price. Looks like it's the cb-3010

    https://polarbearinc.com/PBPC/homepage/product_Bearings.html

If you are planning on pulling your radiator anytime soon I'd do this bearing then. I had a he'll of a time getting the snap ring out and pulled the radiator for more room(already drained the coolant since I was doing the water pump).

First pulled this off, it's either a 10mm or 12mm bolt. Had to wedge a screw driver against one of the studs to keep it from turning.
Here's what it looks like without the cover.

Goofy looking snap ring if you ask me.

I forgot to take pictures of the pulley but it just slides off with little effort. Then I just found a socket to hammer the bearing out then another one to put it back in. Comes out fairly easily. Reverse all that for reinstall.

Now that my bearing is good my ac only blows hot air. It kind of worked before I pulled everything apart but wasn't ice cold. I plan on recharging it and hoping for the best. I noticed some freon on the cap but I'm guessing it's just leftover from the last time it was filled.
Anything else I should check before I refill it?

You need to vacuum the system to remove the moisture in the air that's in your lines first, that's why it only sorta worked. Should also replace the receiver dryer canister before you vacuum and recharge.

New SPC UCA installed, got the Toyo sticker wore of the new tread and the rattle can wheels out in the sun.

    Time to complete...
    Passenger side: too long!
Driver side: 1 hour, that includes battery and collision sensor removal.

do what? the UCA's? the worst part is getting the ball joints out, after that its all real easy. getting my old shocks and coils off was harder than those. I didn't have to remove the battery, didn't think you had to

great looking truck, I like those wheels

Yeah UCA... It's awhile down the road. I actually took the time to price out what I'm doing to my rear suspension and it's about 1k... I have a lot of saving coming up this summer...

Yea honestly the uca's were kind of a last minute thing for me, I wasn't even going to get them right up until the day I ordered the lift, just figured it's one less thing I'd have to worry about but now and then I kinda also wish I just saved the money and dealt with whatever problems come with not running them, then again I haven't even touched the dirt yet lol.
