I like my scan gauge but I've never had an ultra gauge.
I like that I can see intake temp, avg mpg, coolant temp, and trans temp among other things with my scan gauge and I can change the back light color to match my gauges, climate control and stereo

Jon hit the nail on the head IMO. If you're fine with blue, the Ultra Gauge does pretty much everything the scan gauge does at 1/3 the price.

How did anyone even figure out that this is possible? There must be like a million variables that would have to be the same or compatible.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
casting numbers on the cams are the same between the 5vz-fe and 3vz-fe. different grinds though and a notch for a distributor. Also, same family of engine, and close examination of the 2 cylinder heads.

Thanks guys! I kind of have a green scheme goin but I like the look of the ultra gauge a little better. For the price though it's very tempting!

The one thing the UG doesn't do is read the trans fluid temps. If this important to you, the SG is the way to go.

That's what I forgot to mention. The scan gauge will, you just have to find the code on their site and program it in

I tried the ultra gauge but now use torque instead. In regards to tranny temps some first gens don't have the ability to relay it.
