What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I ordered all my stuff from low range off road..Billie's, ome heavy springs, greasable shackles, Dakar's, shift knobs, never once did I consider U-bolts! Haha but I made sure and asked em for a hat, which goose gladly threw in for me! Big shout out to low range, they hooked me up and the turn around was fast. Their shift knobs are dank! Now the fun begins..I'll post before and afters.

 

Mostly looks I guess. But I've never wanted more mirror. I like the manual adjustment too.

Expos are speced for 500lbs of weight and retain 3" lift.

From what Ive seen they are a bit better for weight then Dakars. But they take longer to break in and if you have a light truck(stock) they will ride like bricks. Which is obvious as to why. Once they break in they work great.

 

Should I consider regearing for 33's?

do you have a detailed outline of when you regeared Monte? I'm really really new with all this and do not know much at all.

 

It varies by year. Toyota was smoking some seriously good stuff when they decided my truck needed 3.58 gears, it's bit hit and miss on early first gens.

 

axle code is on the door jamb. theres a sticky that has the chart.

if your even asking about the process its probably beyond your skill and you lack the tools to setup the gears.

 

I thought you said it was because you can't take them apart without breaking the glass. So you can't mount mirror lights in them.

I love my dakars, they've worked well for everything I've needed them to do so far. Everything from daily driving with an empty bed to driving 4 hours with my 300lb dirt bike and camping gear in the bed. Once we got off the pavement it was about 40 miles to our campsite, no problems there either.

 

I'm in no way badtalking dakars because I have loved them thus far but I'm about to upgrade to an actual rear bumper/swingout pretty soon and with my rtt and bed rack plus a full size spare and camping gear... I need more carrying capacity and when my dakars are loaded dwn they get too saggy and soft for my liking. Just not for me anymore so I need those expos lol.

Mine work great for me but no rtt/ rack. Even with the dirt bike they didn't squat all that much though.

 

So much has changed on my truck since this was taken. Still super rear end high even with the bike and bumper.

 

Why not AAL then?
