That is on the list once I get a DD, so I can just leave it in the garage and work on it over the course of a few weekends.

New brake pads. The indicators on the old ones have been squealing for several months; I just never get time to do it. Today I came home from work earlier and decided to do it. I actually forgot how easy these are since they just slide in from the front. All my other vehicles I have to remove the callippers.

Easy? I guess they could be if the caliper pins would come out. Both of mine were seized in. A few methods later, and all I wound up with was pins that had flattened heads that, even if they would finally come out, they couldn't :p
    So new calipers it was.

Question: Do you all use shims on the brake pads? Some say it is not needed and some say it is. My previous set had 2 shims on each pad. IMG_6597.jpg

I would have, but the pads I got (EBC greenstuff) had some sort of pseudo-shim built in and they explicitly say not to use shims with their pads. If the pads come with them, I would suggest using them.
