What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

still trying to find out where this God forsaken squeak/chirp is coming from.....left front area. Friday, im gotta take apart the pass side uca and regrease everything...and try getting some grease between the metal and lca bushings. its driving me nuckin futs. 45 and under....especially where the road is uneven........chirp chirp chirp. sounds like a damn bird.

 

I got a suspension chirp in the front end too.

 

i got one to but mine sounds like its on the inside

 

i only hear my chirp when the passenger front window is down. aggravating as shit.

So far a like it, definately soaks the ride up better,now my rear suspension really feels like shit, gonna have to fix that

 

Yeah, I was surprised how much the rear was impacted by removal. In my case, the rear seemed to work better.

Are you still running stock leafs?

 

Yea i had them re arced about4 months ago but they are sagging again, its time for new leafs and shocks

I'm pretty sure it's running a 3" suspension & 3" Body lift so it's netting 6" enough for the 35's (Not sure on tire size)

 

I think so too. I wonder if those gears are still stock....

 

I'm pretty sure she is running 35x12.5'sx15's with a 3" suspension and a 3" body lift.

 

Pretty excited. Got that damn 2" spacer lift off today. Local shop compressed spring and removed spacer block and put back together. Put new top plates in too. 5100s are in the middle setting. Taking them out was easy. Getting them back in on the passenger side was tricky. Drivers side was easy. Why is one side always harder than the other?!
Didn't want to remove upper ball joint, even though its easier to do once out, I dont have a BJ press or air tool to bang them out.

I couldnt get the Control arms to lower enough to get that bottom bolt in with the jack between the UCA and upper fender. I put a dent in the fender and quickly released jack pressure after hearing a pop. Found a spot for the jack on the lower ball joint and somewhere in the frame. This worked. Was actually my gfs idea and thank god cos i was running out of ideas. Didn't really want to put jack on LBJ but..... it worked. 2nd last pic is without spacer. Last pic is the before, with the spacer.

Im really happy with the results. I can feel the difference in handling and like it a lot more. Feel more planted on the road too.

 

Nice! That looks good. Im starting to think about replacing my suspension with the 5100's too. Did you just replace your stock shocks with the 5100's? And you removed the spacer and still got more lift? Are those stock coil's? I want to swap in some bilstien 5100 and take out those rancho's and im not to sure how to go about it. Appreciate any tips
